I have been to Kazunoya Oiwake twice and they just keep getting better (I even got a sticker this time!)
The atmosphere is lovely and warm with very friendly staff/performers who do their best to involve everyone in their wonderful performance regardless of language or culture. Please do not be intimidated if you do not know any Japanese, the folks here are very welcoming and patient.
The playing itself is superb and really worth the effort to see, good variety. Tsuragu shamisen really is beautiful to hear and you will also be lucky enough to hear some excellent traditional singing and see a dance or two as well!
Consistently a total treat. Drop them an email and get yourself along to experience something...

They were all so welcoming too for a large group who didn't speak any Japanese - they involved us with the performance and were so kind and fun to chat with! They even let us try out playing a shamisen! Really a night not to be missed when in Tokyo!
Thanks so much to everyone at Kazunoya Oiwake for making our night so special! We'll be sure to return next time...
