So, as Italian, I have a lot to say about this place!
Let me start with the pizza itself: I got the most expensive one on the menu: the ripieno (I believe this was the name, itâs similar to a calzone, stuffed with different ingredients). Absolutely delicious. The dough was perfect. So fluffy, not too thin, not too thick. Just perfect. Exactly the way I like it. The amount of ingredients was right for its concept, but I felt that I needed to taste the tomato sauce a little more. My sister got the other expensive pizza on the menu, similar to mine but in pizza form. She felt the same as me: amazing dough, but lacking on the tomato sauce department. We really need to feel the depth of the tomato sauce in a pizza, otherwise we wonât feel 100% immersed in the universe of the pizza experience. The taste of the tomato sauce was so light that it seemed to be just fresh tomato pulp put on the pizza and only cooked in the oven. You feel the difference in depth when there has been some work done on the sauce. It makes the whole pizza much juicier. Also, the basil was a little burnt, which means it was cooked in the oven. You shouldnât do this! Basil needs to be fresh! AFTER taking the pizza out of the oven, sprinkle some fresh extra virgin olive oil, and just before serving, add some fresh and aromatic basil leaves!
I think it was already strange for them to see two girls ordering one pizza each, and we even got the heaviest ones ð BUT, that didnât discourage us from ordering a third one to share: we really wanted to give them another chance with the tomato sauce, so we ordered a marinara! We thought the problem might lie in our choice, so we went for the pizza whose star were just tomatoes and tomato sauce. Indeed, it made a difference. It was absolutely delicious. BUT, the sauce was still lacking depth! Ahh we really want to ask the pizza man to just improve the tomato sauce! It would basically make this our favourite pizza in Tokyo! For now, itâs on a second place (although we havenât decided the first one yet ð). I want to give it 5 stars so desperately because they deserve them! But my Italian pride is asking me to wait until they revolutionise the tomato sauce, (and add the basil after baking the pizza). Anyways, if you read until this point, I want you to know that I HIGHLY recommend this pizzeria. Iâm just giving you a warning that the tomato sauce is not the best, and doesnât make it the juiciest and deepest pizza ever, but itâs ALMOST there!!
However, prices are very high. I know weâre in Tokyo, but I think they are above average. I know Iâm not in Napoli and I canât get the best Margherita in the world for â¬3. But I think prices are a bit high even for Tokyo!
The vibe: it looks very Italian! We loved the decorations, the structure itself is very Italian looking. We havenât been able to go back home for two years, so we felt like we were closer to home here! The staff is very nice, and I really think the pizza man is highly skilled! If I wasnât trying to stay fit, I would be coming back every Saturday night here for a pizza, like we used to do in Italy! Old times!
Also, it is very popular, and we were stupid enough to go on a weekend without reserving. However, they told us we might have a chance to get a table at some point, so they told us to wait until a certain hour. We waited outside, they saw us standing there for a long time. When the time had come, we asked them if they managed to get us a table and they said it wasnât possible as they were full for the night. Now, I know we should have reserved. But they also know when they are full. And they also saw us outside for a looong time. We would have appreciated if they told us to go home earlier! We decided to go to Salvatore cuomo nearby to satisfy our pizza cravings. Thatâs pretty good too, even as a chain. Anyways, we went back a second time with a reservation, and we had a very positive experience! I hope I will be able to give them 5 stars next time!! Iâm trying to be very strict, but itâs for their good! I want them to...
Read moreReally great experience dining here at La Tripletta. We made reservations for 5:30PM. The website was easy to use. I highly recommend making reservations especially for large groups as it fills up pretty quickly.
For drinks, we had the Messina beer (800 yen) and the homemade ginger ale (500 yen). The beer didn't taste special or anything but the homemade ginger ale was really good. Appetizers- We had the caprese salad made with fresh mozzarella and cherry tomatoes (1,600 yen). The ingredients tasted very fresh and I really liked the drizzle of olive oil on top! For the fritti, I thoroughly enjoyed the frittatina (500 yen for 2pcs). We also tried the Zeppoline (400 yen) but I wasn't such a fan. Maybe a bit too dry or just not to my liking. For the main dish, we had the homemade salsiccia (1,400 yen)- really tasty, generous portions as it came with a side of charred brocollini as well. For the pizza, we had the Margherita (1,600). Good portion size and one pizza was enough to split between my husband and I. The crust was delicious and not heavy at all.
Total bill came out to 7,000 yen for the two of us. Really good value for money here and I would definitely come back to try more...
Read moreAn Napoli style pizzeria near Musashi-Koyama station. Pizza itself was good, we enjoyed the chewy and tasty base and toppings. The price was reasonable as well. The service felt a bit off to me. It took them 5 minutes to bring the menu and they did not come to take orders after a few minutes. The staff didnât hide her disappointment we didnât order alcohol drinks first. No goodbye to us upon our leaving from the service staff... Probably it was our fault to bring kids for busy dinner time. They look very friendly to regular customers. I liked the food and atmosphere so Iâll have a try...
