Mont Thabor — Restaurant in Tokyo

It is surprisingly difficult to find a good bagel outside (or sometimes even within) NYC, but this place is better than anywhere else I've been, and I've traveled a lot.

Most places can't seem to get the chewiness or texture right, many don't get the size right (usually too small), and some places don't even bother and it's basically white bread shaped like a donut with a non-shiny crust.

This place has gotten it all right, and that's a pretty high bar. The only thing is the price -- I was used to getting bagels through Too Good To Go where I'd get almost 20 bagels for $5-10 (I'd freeze them right away and would last me weeks). A plain bagel here is ¥210 (~$1.30).

That said, I was a bit skeptical about the chocolate bagel but I had to give it a try and.....wow, it's so good -- if chocolate muffins are too sweet for you, this is perfect, not too sweet but definitely chocolate, and that chewy bagel texture on top....

I was passing by and saw the amazing foods displayed from outside of the window. I dropped in and to my surprise everything looks so yum and all of them were fresh. I tried two item (pizza nan ¥260, Arabic sausage and kiwi juice ¥108. They were superb. Gonna visit again and taste others items too.

A western style bakery shop - so they got chocolate croissant! Arrived at the shop early in the morning so only half of the bakeries were ready, but it's already plenty!
