I just happened to be next door at another shop and saw this place, immediately being intrigued. Apparently the place is named after a song and picture book created in the 80’s and 90’s. It’s very retro and feels like an old American-style cafe. Everything is Mr. Friendly themed, with tons of merchandise to purchase, and similar era memorabilia. They service hotcakes in the shape of the character, and you can get different toppings. I opted for the small set which included seven pieces and coffee. Both were good and not too heavy. We went to Mr. Friendly on our way to go to a hair salon in Ginza nearby. I was so hungry, so we just picked a random one. I’m glad it was this one.

It’s US Southern California-themed inside, with a lot of things that remind me of park rangers, camping, and has a lot of overly happy faces. It’s not the Japanese kind of ‘kawaii’ at all. It is truly American, but American pop culture reminiscent of ‘Mr. Men’ by Roger Hargreaves type books.

The little guy shaped pancakes were too cute and I loved the ice cream. The coffee was nice...
