I was apprehensive at first after reading the negative reviews but the hotel exceeded my expectations! Yes, the room is small but this is Tokyo so it’s to be expected. I’ve stayed in smaller rooms in Tokyo before. If you want a big room, you’ll need to find a more expensive hotel and pay the price. Also, the price of this hotel for a 3-star may seem steep but it’s because you are paying for the microwave, washing machine and dryer, and hotpot, and the location. We went in summer during the heatwave and to be able to wash our clothes everyday was extremely helpful in ensuring we always had fresh, stinkless clothes to wear without having to bring lots of them.
I highly recommend this place especially if you are taking the Narita Express because the NEX platform at Shibuya station is the platform that is closest to the hotel and is the platform with direct access to the New South Gate exit which leads easily to the hotel. This means that you will not need to lug your suitcases through different platforms upon arrival at Shibuya station in order to find the New South Gate exit. We had two large heavy suitcases and two small suitcases which we lugged ourselves from Narita to the hotel, and it was very doable thanks to this - no train transfers and no need to find our way from platform to platform in the crowded station.
The hotel bed and bedlinen were very comfortable and I had no trouble sleeping at all (usually I have insomnia). Despite the four suitcases we had, we managed to make the small space work by slipping the 2 smaller ones under the bed, unpacking 1 large one and putting it upright to the side, and only keeping 1 large one open on the floor.
I am not sure why people complained about the towels not being changed daily. The hotel had a magnetic card on the door that you could place outside by 11am everyday to indicate that you want your towels and robes changed and trash thrown away that day by housekeeping. We had no issues with towels and trash during our stay at all.
We stayed for 13 nights and full housekeeping was done twice during our stay. We were happy both times. In fact, I felt the hotel was super consistent with their housekeeping quality and very dilligent in this aspect. Both the room and bathroom were very clean and well-stocked with amenities all the time.
The only negative thing I would write about this hotel is the breakfast. It was not tasty at all and we ended up only having it for the first two days so this was a waste. We would recommend not choosing their breakfast and save your money for outside...
Read moreMy recent stay at the Tokyu Stay Shibuya was an exercise in frustration and annoyance. While the room itself was admittedly fine—clean enough and adequately sized—the entire experience was completely soured by the genuinely appalling attitude, outright scamming tactics of the reception staff, and a deceptively inconvenient location.
The only genuinely smooth part of the entire stay was the check-in process itself, which was quick and efficient. After that, everything went downhill fast.
The reception staff, after check-in, were without exception, shockingly rude. Every subsequent interaction felt like an imposition. I felt like I was bothering them just by asking a basic question. This is absolutely unacceptable for a hotel, especially in a city known for its excellent customer service.
The worst part, however, was the blatant attempt to fleece me. I unfortunately misplaced my room key card (a small, easy-to-lose plastic card), and when I reported it, I was informed that the replacement fee was an outrageous $12! This is nothing more than a cheap, transparent attempt at a scam. Key cards cost pennies to produce. Charging $12 is completely predatory and left a very bitter taste. It felt like they were actively looking for ways to extract extra money from guests.
On top of the terrible service and scam fee, they clearly don't believe in providing basic hotel services. They do not do room cleaning. I had to deal with the accumulated trash and mess myself for the entire duration of the stay.
And finally, about the location. While it’s technically near Shibuya, be prepared for a slog. It’s a tedious 10 to 15-minute walk just to reach the main, lively streets and the Shibuya Station hub. If you're hoping for easy, immediate access to the action, forget it—you're stuck on a quiet side street far from the main transport hubs and shops.
The room was "okay," but the hostile, scamming reception staff, lack of basic services, and deceptive location make this a hotel to absolutely avoid. I travel frequently to Tokyo, and this was, by far, the worst hotel stay I have ever had in the city. Save your money and your...
Read moreI stayed here for 5 nights on sort of a last minute trip to Tokyo. I was going to stay with some friends at a close by Airbnb, but after getting there, I felt it might get a little cramped and I didn't want to impose on them.
So a quick google maps search and I found this hotel. Walked in not even knowing if they'd have any rooms available. The staff was extremely helpful!
I needed a room for 5 nights, unfortunately they didn't have any available for 5 nights as I came in the middle of cherry blossom bloom. However, I was told I could get a room for one night, change rooms for another night, and then change again and stay in a room for 3 nights. As I was going to be out most of the time, only needing a place to sleep, this was perfect.
The staff was very helpful helping me change rooms as well. All I'd have to do is bring down my bags in the morning, head out, and by the time I got back, my other room was ready and they had even brought my bags up.
As far as the rooms themselves go, all 3 were very nice. They were clean, beds were comfortable, all had a little kitchenette, and a combination washer/dryer. And the prices were very reasonable.
The hotel overall is very nice too. There are some great photo ops available in the lobby! The staff spoke English well so it was easy to communicate with them. For example, we needed a cab at 3AM to go see the tuna auctions at the fish market. Just a quick conversation with them before going to bed, and the cab was ready when I got down in the morning. The hotel's located about an 8 minute walk from Shibuya station, so grabbing a train to explore the rest of Tokyo was very easy. Even the area the hotel is located in has many restaurants and bars to go to.
Overall, it was a great location and I would definitely...
