Kamikatsu is a small town famous for being Japan’s only #zerowaste town with an aim to separate all of their garbage into reuse or recycle or biodegrade by 2020! Rise&Win and it’s sister brewery up the hill Stone Wall Hill are 2 excellent craft breweries in Kamikatsu & this is their flagship bar in the big capital city. This bar is utilizing zero waste principles you should notice such as paper straws, Original stencil repurposed newspaper wallpaper, up cycled materials reuse in decor and design (note the glass bottles chandelier), Tokushima & locally sourced ingredients, reusable hand towels (Oshibori) and some local Tokushima ingredients in their delicious craft beers too. I enjoyed happy hour half pints in the Kamikatsu signature glasses, grilled portobello style mushrooms & garden fresh tomatoes while enjoying the relaxed vibe of the place. On our first day visiting Tokyo from Aotearoa (New Zealand) we found this place via Google maps. After a big day, we came here and realized we were early, so we waited for it to open. We are very glad that we waited. The beers were excellent as I did expect from a smaller Japanese brewery, no half measures. Their pricing is effectively the same as what you would expect in Aotearoa's larger cities, except they offer the 570ml imperial pints, which is awesome. The fried chicken was so crunchy and delicious. The man serving the beers was so friendly and professional. Our Japanese language skills are poor so we really appreciated the patience. Thank you. Just a short walk from Tokyo Tower, this place turned out to be a real gem. The atmosphere was comfortable and welcoming, the kind of spot where you can relax while still feeling the energy of the city around you. The beer was served ice cold and tasted great, and the steak was nothing short of amazing. It was tender, full of flavor, and cooked perfectly. What really stood out was the staff. They were friendly and attentive, which made the whole experience even better. Between the good food, great drinks, and inviting vibe, it is a place I would gladly visit again.
