Tokyo 🇯🇵, the Most Bang for Your Buck Sushi Omakase!!

This is a good sushi restaurant in a nice location. I like that they are open early and accept reservation for one person. They offer nigiri experience (“become a sushi chef” experience), omakase, and vegetarian omakase for a flat rate. THIS REVIEW IS FOR THE OMAKASE. First, the restaurant is structured like a tidy cooking school, and the staff has nice hospitality and speaks English. The quality of the sushi pieces was good and I had some good conversation with the chef. (For American folks, he is an American football fan!) They serve super quick and the meal will be over in 30 min. (It looked like nigiri experience also lasted about 30 min.) The one thing I was disappointed by was that all the sushi items were very ordinary. Tuna, yellowtail, salmon, shrimp, squid... All these are something you’d expect in a supermarket sushi package. Of course the quality was better, but I wouldn't bother coming to a pricy sushi restaurant just to have those. If you are expecting more of traditional sushi items (like shimaaji or kinmedai) or expensive ones (like urchin), this is not the right place. Though, the sushi chef experience sounds interesting enough and I may come back for that.

We have had sushi for thousands of times but this was the first time we actually made our own sushis. The restaurant was very chic, stylish and clean, located in the heart of Tokyo but in a quiet business area. Our experience was beyond expected! The masters were very professional and taught us handbyhand with each step of sushi making, despite the process was quite complicated than what you think (just roll the rice and top with fish lol), it was a very unique and fascinating practice. You will be provided with a cute Kimono gown called "happi", and super fresh/high quality ingredients to make sushis. After all the effort, you get to eat your own sushi!! It's an authentic sushi set with varieties of "neta". The whole experience ends with a great photoshoot at a hidden photo spot of the beautiful view of the Tokyo Tower. It's simply fantastic! We visited with our 10 month old baby and he decided to cry during our sushi making... we are so grateful for the kind staff trying everything they could to calm our crying baby. We will definitely be back with our friends again. Highly recommend if you want to experience the one and only authentic sushi making in Tokyo!

Let me start off by saying that the staff is wonderful. They are very nice and welcoming. I appreciated that. The place looked closed when we arrived, and we quickly realized we were the only reservation and patrons in the place. The sushi was good but definitely not the best quality fish or texture I've tried. There were some really nice pieces but I've had nicer quality sushi in the United States. Three stars for the attitude and demeanor of our awesome chef! He was beyond kind and pleasant. Thank you, Chef, for a lovely time and for your wonderful knowledge and smile throughout our dining experience! It was very quiet, but you can tell they make a great effort to cater to tourists. Truthfully, the experience felt a little fabricated. As previously stated, we were the only two patrons in the restaurant, and that might say something about their concept. They lost more stars with me the moment they put an iPad in front of us at the conclusion of our dining experience and said, "we are running a promotion. Please scan the QR code, and if you choose to write a review, we will give you a treat or origami. Thank you for your cooperation." The idea seems nice, but ultimately, it's tacky. To the ownership: Don't ask your staff to do that. It's intrusive as many people will feel obligated to do it when your staff is so incredibly kind. I feel that it reduces your reputation and quality to a piece of candy. It also gives an ilusion of 400+ honest reviews when it seems like they are being heavily promoted in exchange for treats. If you focus more on the concept and the quality, you will not need to ask for great reviews. You will earn them naturally. For $90 per person, this was definitely not worth it. It was good to try it, but I would not recommend it as a first choice with all of the options in Tokyo. I hope the business takes my feedback with grace as it's important that patrons have a fair and clear understanding of the concept. There's a lot of room for improvement, but I commend you for the wonderful attitude and demeanor...
