My husband and I stayed here for our honeymoon as a bit of a treat because they have some rooms with queen sized beds! And with him being 6ft tall and a larger build, it was greatly appreciated.
The staff are incredibly polite and friendly. We arrived early but they offered to take our bags and allowed us early check in almost immediately.
The hotel feels so grand as you walk around it. The elevators are touch activated rather than button, which I really loved for some reason.
The room was HUGE compared to any of the others in the same price bracket, as was the bath! And bathroom in general. The bed was queen size and really comfortable, but it had a nasty squeak to it. Fortunately once you're both in the bed, it seems to normalise and stop. I think our only real complaint about the room would be that the windows were a bit dirty, but that didn't affect our stay at all. I mean, who goes to Tokyo to stare out of their hotel window?
You have the option to leave a do not disturb sign on the door, which means the cleaning staff leave you a bag of new items on the door handle, like towels, tooth brushes, razors, bath bombs and pajamas! And the bath bombs were incredible, especially after long days of walking.
The hotel also has a call out option for massage. I had to process the booking over the phone, but it all went smoothly and the massage was really good. I went for oil rather than finger pressure and it really helped work out some of my kinks.
The location is pretty good, but if you aren't feeling like walking uphill for a while, then getting to Roppongi by the metro (below the hotel) can take a surprising amount of time (but is relatively straight forward when you have a map). The restaurant right by the entrance, Steak BLT was incredible, the Izumi Garden Tower has a fair amount of restaurants, and it's not too far from the ANA Intercontinental Tokyo which has a fantastic bar (Mixx) on the 36th floor with incredible night time views, and even more restaurant options.
Also, we were warned about construction right outside the hotel and never heard a thing! The hotel was always incredibly quiet, except at breakfast, but that was the only time we ever really came across that many people while we were there.
The complimentary breakfast is probably the only actual let down of the hotel. It's served in the lobby, which is fine, but there wasn't enough seating for the amount of us that were eating at 9am. The options weren't best and I didn't realise that the toaster was for the pastries. They had a really nice chocolate cereal, but those were the only things we ate. Obviously it's a free breakfast in a completely different country to mine, so I shouldn't expect too much, but the bacon and scrambled eggs looked very underdone. Fortunately, there are so many options for food in the area that we didn't need to rely it.
All in all I would definitely recommend this hotel, especially if you want a fancier option for a cheaper price, and 100% if you want a larger bed and a...
Read moreI wanted to like this hotel - great location (right above a metro station, with many restaurant/entertainment options nearby including for me Suntory Hall for concerts). But I am afraid I cannot recommend it as the risk of a bad experience is too high. First, the room - fine enough but my view was of a wall so it didn’t matter if it was a beautiful day or a lousy one outside, you couldn’t tell. It made for a grim room. Also, it was not well soundproofed. I could hear sometimes boisterous noise from neighbors. Worse, however, was the noise of a housekeeping staff member working in the storeroom across from my room (*02 facing) at 4.30 am the first night I was there and at 3.30 am on my third night. My second night was a Saturday/Sunday stay so I guess this person or persons don’t work Sundays. Now, the noise wasn’t very loud but it was loud enough to wake me up, I went out of the room to complain the first time and the person seemed to be quieter but the damage was done. I couldn’t get back to sleep for some time. I complained to the front desk in the morning but aside from make the usual expressions of regret and sorrow, they apparently did nothing. I asked to see a manager but apparently on weekends, there is no manager on duty so the hapless staff have to manage on their own. If you do stay at this hotel, do not accept a room across from a storeroom. Or be prepared to wear earplugs, which I did not have. Also, woe betide if you have problems during the weekend, there will be no one around with authority to sort them out. Second, the breakfast is pretty poor. You have to make your way to an oddball Hawaiian salads cafe next door (through not very tidy corridors and a lift ride) where the choices are meagre, quality is “meh”, and the ambience is that of a school cafeteria. The service is fast, though. What did I like about this hotel? The toilet with the heated seat was pretty nice. … and again, the location. But otherwise, I am not sure I would risk having my sleep interrupted again. After all, sleep is the bottom line any hotel. Fail that and they haven’t...
Read moreA bit lackluster. We were coming towards the end of our trip. Being a family of 3 adults, it was a cramped room, with the addition of our luggages. We did not have this issue with other hotels since they were more spacious compared to HVF even when similarly priced.
Besides the cramped room, the washroom was a nice setup. With the addition of a nice panasonic hair dryer which made me want to buy one. Service was okay. A lady assisted us with our luggage transfer to Haneda which was a great help. But I don’t like how most of the stuff in the hotel is self service. As well as the make-up room which was once for every 3 days.
Outside the hotel, the breakfast was mid at best. There is a nice herb chicken which I looked forward to, but the rest were not spectacular. Or worth having at all. The lady however who handles the Breakfast at BLT is nice and speaks great english.
My main problem with this hotel is the Metro Line. The location is right underneath Izumi Gardens which is a huge office building. So expect a large crowd coming INTO the roppongi itchome station. Its fine if you’re leaving during the morning and coming back during rush hours since its opposite the flow of traffic.
But do bare in mind that Roppongi Itchome is not connected to most of the main lines. You’ll have to transfer either at omote sando or somewhere else to reach most of everything, which is a hassle when coming back to the hotel from a long day of traveling. I do give it that you are close to Tokyo Tower, but after a long (hopefully breezy) walk uphill towards it, there’s no metro line near Tokyo Tower that brings you back to Roppongi Itchome. So be prepared for the long walk back through azubudai Hills.
(I couldnt take pictures of inside our room due to how messy and...
