Great place for spicy tantan noodles.
We went at about 11 on a hot Saturday right as they opened, but because there were only 6 seats we did not get in on the first wave. I think there weren't too many people getting in line since it was about 40C. We got in at about 11:30 after waiting 30m, but probably would have got in around the same time if we arrived at 11:15. The chef was also in a sling so perhaps was a bit slower to get the first few bowls served.
There is a ticket machine to prepay for food. Noodles by default can have spice/numbness level 0-2.
Got the dry tantan noodles, level 5 spicy(costs extra) and level 2 numbness. Was quite spicy especially for Japan but wasn't too spicy. Good level of numbness as well. Think level 2 spicy is about the limit for most Japanese people.
Chef was nice and easy to communicate with.
Probably was not the best choice when it was 40C out but was...
Read moreWent to go to a nearby ramen shop that was closed and ended up here, and boy am I glad I did! Works like most other shops with the ticket system. Don't be intimidated. The chef is super friendly, and the ramen is absolutely top notch. I'm a spice lord so I got the extra spicy and my nose was running by the end of the bowl. The ingredients are amazing, and the pork is lightly grilled to bring up the flavor. Perfectly marinated egg. There is some peppercorn and vinegar on the counter which I added in small amounts. The noodles are medium thick and bouncy. My only regret is not getting more. A must try if you are in the area. There are only 6 seats and there were 5 of us, 2 kids. I went in with one of my kiddos and stood behind them until another seat opened up. The ched speaks English really well. You HAVE to try this. Even the shoyu ramen that my kids had was...
Read moreSomeone wrote in the reviews that it was the best ramen they had in Japan. I second that. Hands down best ramen I’ve had. My wife and I found this place close to the apartment we were staying at in Tokyo. You go in, select the ramen you want to have in the machine, pay to get a ticket and bring it to the counter to the chef. We saw the chef making the ramen right over the counter. The food was so good we got three different kinds of ramen. The chef was incredibly humble and gave us the English menu when he saw us struggling with the translator app. The whole experience was amazing. The only sad thing is that we found out about this place the day before we were leaving Tokyo. Definitely coming here next time we...
