I recently visited the Shimokitazawa branch for the first time. Although I am a foreigner, I am capable of holding basic conversations in Japanese. Throughout the interaction, I repeatedly expressed my gratitude by saying "arigatou gozaimasu." to the staff assisting us.
However, there were a few points that I found disappointing. When I visited with a companion (a total of two men), the customer before us (a single female) was guided to a four-person table, while we were seated at a cramped two-person table in the corner. Additionally, when our drinks were brought to the table, I said "thank you" and reached out to receive the drink, only to have the male staff member push my hand away and say "No." Even if it is against staff policy to allow customers to take their drinks before being served, I believe it would have been more appropriate to explain the situation politely.
On the other hand, the female staff member was exceptionally kind and answered our questions courteously, providing excellent service. The curry itself was very delicious as well. However, the rude behavior of the male staff made me wonder, "Am I being discriminated against?" That being said, the female staff's behavior was not like this, so I concluded it was likely an issue with the male staff member in question. Is it really necessary to respond with such rude behavior to foreigners who are making an effort to express gratitude in the local language?
I had previously visited the Kagurazaka branch with a Japanese friend and was deeply impressed by the soup curry there. That experience led me to visit the Shimokitazawa branch this time, but unfortunately, the disappointment was as great as my expectations. I sincerely hope this feedback can contribute to improving your service in the future, as the actions of a single staff member can also impact the image of...

Curry shops are popular in Shimokitazawa. Rojiura curry earned a very high rating. Hence we tried this restaurant for lunch.
There are about 8 tables and 5 counter seats in the restaurants. The dinning atmosphere are terrifically nice. Quite relaxing. Decoration is plain and not luxury.
You can order by using their English menu which include generally curry with vegetables and chicken or braised pork. You can choose level of spicy.
In our order, vegetables were great, deep fried first before putting to curry. Chicken and pork were overcooked, like soup materials, not tender. They use glutinous rice instead white rice. Perhaps the soaking time is not enough....
Read moreLike others, I came here because I’ve heard great things about this place and the soup curry trend. I was pretty disappointed when we received our order and the vegetables were hard (didn’t appear to have been cooked for long) and the fried chicken was not very tasty and lukewarm. The curry flavor was good but it wasn’t enjoyable with hard vegetables, not hot chicken and a small rice portion. The chicken inside the curry bowl was ok but it also wasn’t hot temperature wise!
The atmosphere inside appeared nice but the place itself is a bit difficult to find at night. It was pretty empty when we went and it took awhile for someone to notice us enter. The atmosphere just felt a little off with the quality of food, lack of customers...
