If you’re in Shinjuku and looking for a truly unique and memorable experience, Sake Market is an absolute must-visit! Nestled in the bustling streets of this vibrant neighborhood, it’s a haven for sake lovers and a fantastic introduction for those new to Japan's national drink.
The concept is brilliant: an all-you-can-drink sake tasting experience, allowing you to sample an incredible variety of sake from all over Japan. The selection is vast, catering to all tastes—from smooth, fruity sakes to bold, dry brews. The knowledgeable and friendly staff are more than happy to guide you, providing recommendations based on your preferences and even explaining the brewing process for curious guests.
The atmosphere is lively and welcoming, making it the perfect spot for a fun outing with friends or even meeting fellow travelers. The cozy interior, coupled with the relaxed vibe, feels authentically Japanese while still being approachable to non-locals.
What truly sets Sake Market apart is the unbeatable value for money. For one fixed price, you can indulge in a sake experience that would cost significantly more in most other settings. Plus, they provide water and light snacks to keep you going—a thoughtful touch that enhances the experience.
Whether you're a sake connoisseur or simply curious to explore, Sake Market is a gem in the heart of Shinjuku that you won't want to miss. It’s an unforgettable highlight and a perfect way to dive into Japanese culture. Highly...
Read moreAmazing!! Highly recommend if you’re interested in trying different types of sake and other Japanese alcohols. They have so many kinds and then give you all the fixings and recipes to create your own sake cocktail and sake desserts. They also have beer too and lots of things to add to your beer. Such a cool experince and well worth the money! It’s BYO food and they have all the utensils and heating stuff. It was really fun to watch local Japanese enjoy their night and see how they socialise in this way. I feel like we could never be trusted to do something like this in the USA. It would be messy and aggressive. Only downside is me and my friend were there to hopefully meet some friends to go to karaoke with and it’s not that kind of place. You’re supposed to not talk to other groups and give others their privacy.
Ok I came back online to edit this review because after leaving sake market, we tried to walk around golden Gai and it was a gross tourist trap with ¥1000 entry into anywhere and ¥800 or so for a shot of sake and we were mind blown that we just had the incredible experince we had in an authentic atmosphere for such a cray good value. I’m nervous this review will ruin this place and I’ll come back in a few months and it will be double the price and full of foreigners. But it really...
Read moreThis is fun! Our daughter heard about this place and suggested we check it out. OK so we didn't fit the demographic exactly but we were warmly welcomed and luckily found a seat as there weren't many left.
You pay your money and your drink sake, lots of it. A few rules to remember, No Sleeping, No Tottering and No Throwing Up, other than that just have fun. They even encourage you to bring food in with you. We had just eaten dinner so didn't need to but people sitting beside us brought in take-away sushi and other snack food and had dinner along with their sake tasting. Looked like the way to go.
The sake was amazing. We had only had sake a few times before and now know we never had good sake. With a hundred or so varieties to choose from you can get everything from ultra dry through to fruity sake that tastes like juice. We probably tried 15-20 different kinds.
You pay by the time, 30 minutes, 90 minutes or unlimited. We thought 30 was way too short but felt 90 would be too long. The time flew by and we never went to visit the other two floors that specialize in fruit liqueurs and mixed drinks (all included). If you were bringing in food you could easily enjoy 2-3...
