Sangendo — Restaurant in Tokyo

In my experience, this is among the most serene and special tucked away cafes in Tokyo or any other major city in the world.

The menu of coffee - an impressive range of single origins and blends - and sweets, as well as the unique aesthetic, are carefully curated by the proprietor, a genial fellow named Toshi. I had the royal milk tea (JPY 1,200) and chestnut cake (JPY 600), both superlative; a dollop of fresh whipped cream was served into my tea cup at the bar.

Toshi is a welcoming and caring host who wishes to serves his clientele in a calm and quiet atmosphere. With that in mind, you should keep a few suggestions in mind when entering the space:

This is an ideal place to get lost in a book or in your reflections, not so much for cell phones, laptops, or loud conversation.

Toshi wishes to keep a low profile, so feel free to take photos but keep them as your own personal mementos rather than using them for a story on the ‘gram.

This is a tiny space, so parties no greater than two people are preferred and advised.

東大前にあるカフェ ． 〈注文品〉 【バニラチーズテリーヌ】:700円 【三間堂ブレンド ブレンド夜想】:800円 ． 〈メモ〉 東大前エリアで祝い事の飲み会前に時間ができたためふらっと訪問したお店 25年8月.月曜日の夜19時頃に伺い、店内先客0名といった状況でした ． ・バニラチーズテリーヌ ズッシリとしたサイズ感のチーズテリーヌにクリーム/マーマレード/カシューナッツが添えられての提供でした こちらはマダガスカル産のマスカルポーネを贅沢に練り込み、さらに小麦粉を使わずグルテンフリーで仕上げているという一皿、店内の雰囲気も相まってこだわりが感じられて素敵です テリーヌはしっとり滑らかな質感で、口に運ぶと舌の上で静かに溶け濃厚なチーズのコクがじんわりと広がるのに、後味は不思議と重さが残らないタイプ クリームチーズ特有の酸味は控えめで、ミルキーで柔らかな甘みが中心にあり誰もが心地良く感じられるような味わいでした バニラの香りも秀逸で天然由来のバニラビーンズを使用しているのではと思うほどの奥行きが感じられて良き 香りがただ甘いだけでなく、ほのかにウッディーで上品なニュアンスを帯びており、余韻が長く続く所も印象的でした ホイップクリームは乳脂肪分の高さを感じさせるリッチさがありながらも甘さをグッと抑えており、テリーヌの主役感を決して邪魔しないイメージ マーマレードは柑橘の爽やかな香りとほろ苦さが際立っておりチーズの濃厚さとの対比が素晴らしかったです 素材の選定から組み合わせまで計算され尽くしたかの様な仕上がりで、甘さ・香り・食感が完璧、最後の一口まで飽きが来ないテイストで非常に美味しかったです！
