Tomigaya/Uehara area: this cozy seafood restaurant was such a surprise. The flavors were not only delicious, but genuinely new to me. There’s a great selection of tapas-style smaller dishes and some solid mains, but I personally preferred the smaller plates; they felt more creative and exciting.
One standout was the !!poached sweet shrimp with cinnamon!!. I had never tried anything like that before; it melted in my mouth and was the kind of flavor that lingers in the best way. A number of the dishes use seasonal and locally sourced ingredients, and the staff were happy to share more about each plate. I’d definitely go back just to work my way through all the entrees. And the orange creme brûlée with tea ice cream also did not disappoint 🤍
2 cold entrees+ bouillabaisse for 2ppl+dessert+ a glass of wine each was around ¥5,000 per person. very cozy and romantic unique flavors/combinations that I’ve never seen before ! Exciting and delicious reservation for nighttime...
Read moreSaru has surprised me today with their Smoked Tuna steak, the execution of this dish and all the sides were fantastic. The tuna tasted like a bbq beef but only gently smoked, very fluffy and falling off the bone so easily. The sides, a wasabi and capers tapenade (brilliant!!!!), a Saba rillette (i wish there was more one the plate, delicious), the Kabu and Shrimp curry marinated and salad. Hands down! Thank you for this enjoyable moment. Maybe it was the rush hour but the order took a while, in any case it was worth the wait and well priced!
So I will keep the 5 stars 😊 I will...
