SUB Store Tokyo is definitely the kind of place I’d frequent if I could. It’s a cozy spot that serves drinks and used books, with a selection of reference books available to read on-site. They also usually serve Indonesian food, but unfortunately, when I visited, there weren’t any Indonesian dishes on the menu.
One of the highlights for me was the collection of books on Palestine, along with an ongoing exhibition featuring artwork by Palestinian artists. Much of the music sold at Substore has a connection to past performers playing there. That music is on some of the vinyl records, CDs and cassette tapes.
