Tera Cafe — Restaurant in Tokyo

was wanting something to eat, mid-morning.....had just been thinking about how few cafés/restaurants/bars are a real pleasure just to be in.... and that it's not common for me to find a place that offers decent salads (with no eggs, fish, cheese, or animals of any sort, or that isn't flooded with a generic dressing) and Tera caught my eye as I was on my way walking from Ebisu station to Naka Meguro. it caight my eye because the morning sun was shining in, and the whiteish wooden tables just inside the concertinaed glass doors looked inviting. looked firther inside and saw that it was simply stylish (not the spray-on trendyness of many establishments in the area). had a look at the menu, looked promising, so went inside to enquire. ordered the vegetable salad and it was perfect, obviously made there and then, with thought, and care. the staff were all calm and human, not a false smile in sight. enjoyed an hour's rest, with excellent 'power' food, in an easeful environment. quiet. calm. no crashing and bashing from the kitchen, no rushing staff, no overpowering muzak, no flashing wall-screens. a very unusual, and satisfying experience....

Really good vibes here. They have English menu here, serving Japanese meals, as well as a selection of drinks, including Japanese tea and sake. I came here for the tea and parfait which did not disappoint! However, The most interesting thing about this cafe is that monks come to visit everyday, and for non-members you pay 1500 for a session...

The inside of the cafe is a very quite cafe althought it is located by the busy street. They organise many events such as meeting a monk or flower arrangment and many more. However, in my opinion, the food is just like any other washoku that you can have at a Japanese restaurant and the taste and the quality of the food...
