Yayoiken Ikebukuro Theater Street — Restaurant in Tokyo

This Yayoiken was a few blocks away from my hotel in Ikebukuro. I visited on a Tuesday at 9am. I placed my order, found a seat, and grabbed a water. The staff was polite as usual and I had my meal within minutes. I wish I had know about this place when I visited Japan in 2022. I paid 790 yen ($5) and got a very good meal to start the day. The chicken paired very well with the tofu and mayo dipping sauce. You definitely will not a breakfast as filling in the US for the price. It’s actually insane to see the prices of the Yayoi’s in the SF Bay Area. My only drawback is that I didn’t go to Yayoiken more often. This was one of my favorite budget...

We were here on a work day morning for Japanese style breakfast. The Shake no shiotaki set was very delicious! Authentic Japanese experience started with the seaweed miso, natto, grilled salmon, an egg (yes it's raw!) and a bowl of silky white rice. This is a fairly typical, low-price Japanese teishoku restaurant. Teishoku means set meal, so basically it's a tray with the main dish and side dishes. You order at the machine at the entrance. The machine does have an English setting. You must first enter the payment and then select your meal. Cash and IC cards are accepted. You're free to choose any table.
