Very average level eatery in general. We felt the food had started to lose part of its identity. This is seen in their sets which are served with Chinese style dim sum. This might be used to attract Chinese tourists, of which there were more than a fair few here. I tried the prawn dumplings and found them to be excessively thick in the skin and very floury.
The tea leaf fried rice was tasty but lacked body. My wife’s beef green tea udon was very fatty though the noodles themselves were tasty. The dim sum she had was mediocre.
Another star is deducted because of the service and layout. I was sat at an indoor seat next to a courtyard seat bordered by glass doors. The staff frequently forgot to close the doors, or left it half open, thereby allowing cold air into the restaurant. I had to close the door myself several times, only for the same thing to happen again within minutes. As such, we were left to eat lunch simultaneously too warm to wear jackets and too cold due to...

The food was so good. Especially the crab rice. I can't recommend it enough, the flavours were amazing and it was such a big portion for such a good price! Comes with a fantastic soup too, I'm just so sad my stomach wasn't big enough to eat all my food.
For sure, if I'm back in Uji, I must come to this restaurant again. Thank you for the...
Read moreWe felt genuinely welcomed at Wa Mu Cha Café, which is becoming quite rare in Japan’s busiest tourist spots—so that alone made our visit special. The café is tucked inside a small gift shop, adding a cozy and charming touch to the experience.
We tried the matcha ramen, which looked beautifully presented and definitely unique. That said, the flavor wasn’t quite on par with regular ramen—it was a bit too salty, and the matcha didn’t quite work as a soup base. Still, we appreciated the creativity and effort.
Overall, it was a lovely stop with kind staff and a relaxing atmosphere. Worth visiting if you’re curious to try...
