We stayed at Toy Story Hotel Japan for 1 night as a family of five, including our two young children (ages 5 and 3) and our nanny. We booked the Superior Room Square View (Non-Smoking), which was a very pleasant surprise in terms of size! At 35sqm, the room was spacious and comfortably accommodated our family. It comes with four beds—two twin beds, one trundle bed, and one pull-down bed—perfect for our group of three adults and two kids who shared the twin beds.||The bathroom and toilet are separated, which was incredibly convenient for our family when getting ready in the morning. This thoughtful layout really made our stay more comfortable. However, we did have some trouble sleeping due to a knocking sound coming from above the room (we’re not sure what it was). It was a bit disturbing and made it hard to fully relax at night.||We chose this hotel because it was on our bucket list, but also for its convenient proximity to Tokyo Disneyland. The hotel offers 15-minute early access to the Tokyo Disneyland park, which was a huge bonus. This hotel falls under the budget category of Tokyo Disney Resort hotels, so there is no shuttle service to the parks. However, it’s very easy to access the parks via the monorail, which is just a short walk away.||We had breakfast at Lotso Restaurant, a buffet-style restaurant on-site. The food selection was good, but not outstanding. However, they have a wide range of food choices, including character-shaped foods that delighted our kids! It's important to book your time slot for the restaurant in advance (about a month before your visit), as spots fill up quickly. We recommend booking as early as possible to secure a spot.||One of the highlights of our stay was the playgrounds located in front and at the back of the hotel, just one level up from the lobby. These playgrounds feature Toy Story characters, and our kids absolutely loved it!||The hotel also has a small Disney store in the lobby, where you can find merchandise, toys, souvenirs, and more. It was a nice touch for any Disney fans looking to pick up some memorabilia. Additionally, there's a convenience store inside the hotel, which made it really easy for us to grab snacks, drinks, or anything we needed without leaving the premises. This was incredibly convenient, especially when traveling with young children.||We also appreciated the luggage transfer service, which made it easy for us to move our bags to our next hotel within the Tokyo Disney Resort.||We initially booked this hotel for a longer stay, but we decided to only stay for one night because we thought the room would be too small for our family. However, once we got there, we were pleasantly surprised by how spacious the room actually was for our group. Despite the room size being perfect for us, we also realized that Toy Story Hotel does not offer early access to Tokyo DisneySea, so we decided to move to Hotel Ambassador, one of the deluxe hotels at Tokyo Disney Resort, for a longer stay.||Overall, we had a wonderful experience at Toy Story Hotel Japan. It's a great option for families visiting Tokyo Disney Resort, with a spacious room, fun activities for kids, and easy access to the parks. The buffet restaurant and playgrounds are excellent for children, and the early access to Disneyland is a real perk. While not the most luxurious, this hotel offers great value for its location and amenities. We would definitely recommend it for families looking to stay near Tokyo Disneyland, though for Tokyo DisneySea, we preferred the offerings at the...
Read moreWe loved this hotel! The rooms were surprisingly spacious and no room has a bad view (you either get the courtyard/back of Fantasy Springs or the harbour. This really is a Toy Story hotel with lots of fun and kitschy decor, but it didn't feel over the top or tacky. There were two exterior green spaces that were fun to walk around, giving you a little more to do on-site without going to the parks. The hotel also has a fun scavenger hunt with trivia, which is a fun way to explore the hotel. Once you complete the hunt, a Cast Member at the front desk will give you a special completion sticker.|The hotel has a themed gift shop with hotel-exclusive and theme park items, a convenience store, and a buffet restaurant (Lotso's). We did the breakfast buffet at Lotso's and thought the variety was great and the food delicious. We only went to the convenience store to get a few snack items, as each floor has a water bottle refill station, so bring a reusable water bottle!|The A/C in the room was easy to control, which was much needed in the summer heat. The beds were comfortable and had USB outlets and full-room light switches right by the beds. There is also a fridge in the room that kept items cold. Our favourite touches were the fun slippers with "Andy" written on the bottom and the hotel-exclusive postcards. Make sure you stop by the front desk with your postcards to get a hotel stamp (they will also let you stamp a notebook!).|We chose this hotel as it's mid-priced and included in the Vacation Package. If you are traveling to Tokyo DisneySea while the current Fantasy Springs restrictions are in place, I definitely recommend you stay here and book the One Night-Two Day Vacation Package to get unlimited front-of-the-line access to all rides in Fantasy Springs. It was worth the extra money! We toured around to each of the hotels and firmly believe that the Toy Story Hotel is the best deal. The train station is only a short walk away and the station wasn't nearly as busy as you'd expect, as most people exit at the Resort Gateway station (which is why we agreed The Ambassador Hotel is the worst option due to its distance from the train station and added numbers due to the local train line). If you want to stay in a Tokyo Disney hotel, but not pay quite as much (especially with a Vacation Package), this hotel is definitely the...
Read moreI rated this one star because I am so shocked it happened to us and I am hoping to warn other parents: Watch out, the "playground" out front is exceptionally slippery when wet - disastrous when children start running (and what child walks through playgrounds like these)!
My 3 year old had a bad fall literally the minute we arrived, I am talking I was worried about a bad concussion kind of fall. This all happened after wrestling our three kids through the train stations from Kyoto and I was worried, stressed, shocked and so terribly disappointed that this is how our much anticipated Disney holiday started.
For this reason alone, I will advise all families with young children to rethink their stay here - we solely choose toy story over the others so my young children can use the playground facilities outside. Really it is not a playground at all anyway, just photo opportunity statues. The water pools on the coloured concrete despite it not raining on the day, i tried to take a video of it the next fay (apologies for my feet).
The staff were fault free, kind and considerate to our needs. Our room was just as pictured, super clean, super cute, albeit a bit on the squishy side as a family of 5.
I highly doubt that my child was the first one to have fallen on the playground as the staff arranged for special ice packs, including one for his head, straight away. In fact, the terms and conditions state that there is no running allowed on the "playground", like seriously???!!! Such a cop out!!
This "playground" is not safe for children in the rain and the days after (yes, there are non slip tiles but they do not cover the whole area), how is this even possible for a Disney hotel?
In retrospect, it would have been better to book at the Sheraton next door or just at Disneyland resort - they both have a pool to entertain little people and there is a playroom at the Sheraton too. The toy story resort is not really made with children in mind, more for adults hoping to take cute pictures in front of...
