Ko Sushi — Restaurant in Wakayama

Such a fun gem to stumble upon! We were spending the day in Wakayama and wanted some sushi, and we are so happy we found this place. It is a small family run restaurant with no menu, so you tell the chef what you want. We told him to do the chef’s choice and we were not disappointed. The tuna melts in your mouth and the unagi is the best we’ve had in Japan so far (we’ve tried a lot ;) ) The chef is such a fun guy and was so patient with the little Japanese we know. We definitely would suggest going here! It was around 5,000 yen a person ($50)...

We arrived a little early, before they had opened, but the family that runs this traditional sushi restaurant were very welcoming and let us sit at the sushi bar while they got ready. The chef quickly put together a sushi box sampler of his own choosing while setting the fish for the day, and each bite was amazing! Food was very good (sushi, tempura and soba in particular) and it is a small and cosy family run restaurant. Owners can't speak English at all but they were very friendly. No menu is available and we had fun trying to guess from the Jap words on the wall (but no stated price).
