Dino's — Restaurant in Wakkanai

Had lunch here, the place wasn't super busy and the staff was quite hospitable. There is a bit of nostalgia here from the time that Wakkanai was an American military outpost in the 50's & 60's. The all American sloppy Joe featured was so named as the "Wakkanai U.S. Army sloppy joe". I had this but it was by no means a typical sloppy Joe, rather an oversized burger sans vegetables covered in a gooey mix of cheese served on a small skillet. The regular hamburger itself is pretty sizable and is comparable to the infamous Sasebo Burger. Although the taste is akin to the Lotaburger chain staple in America (Thousand Island type dressing), it was more bun than meat. The most famous dish "sloppy joe burger" only has a set amount per day it seems. We arrived at 1pm on a Thursday (opens around 11:15ish) and they were already out. Many people have commented that the burgers are mostly bread, which is true, but that is also something of a commodity in Japan. The meat is thin but filled the whole sandwich and the homemade thousand island sauce is super delicious. Drinks are a bit expensive and small, and everything is made after you order so it takes a significant amount of time (we waited 30 mins which was a bit of a shock) so that's why I couldn't give it more stars (and being sold.out of the signature dish). 2022年8月 初訪

その昔、昭和の時代、観光地　特に温泉街観光地につきものだった物といえば…

それはストリップ劇場だった…

北の果て稚内には音こそ似るが、全く関係がない、しかし、全国からこれを求めてこの犀北の町を訪れる名物がある…

スラッピージョー！！！

かつて米軍ノシャップ基地(1945～1972)があった名残の巨大ハンバーガーだ！

それを食らうべく開店前から並びました！

駐車場🅿️は無いですが、直ぐ隣は道の駅です。

新型コロナ対策で中学生以下の入店は2022年８月中旬現在不可でしたのでご注意！(高校生ならオーケーという意味です)

梅四郎が並んでいる行列にも入店お断り対象のご家族が複数組いましたが、やはり入店を断られていました。 店頭にはそのような告知が無いのでSNS等の情報や電話での確認、下調べが必要かもしれません。

岸田今日子さん似のお声の経営者はご高齢なので、コロナリスクは若い人に比べてやはり脅威！ 小さな街って事もあり過敏になるのも仕方ありません。

遠路遥々来店したがそんな事情で入店を断られたご家族や若いグループが見ていて非常に気の毒でした。

しかし悪いのはコロナです… 憎むべきはコロナウィルスなのです！

メニューからスラッピージョーとコーラ、かみさんはハムチーズのサンドウィッチとパイナップルジュースをオーダー♪

先に隣の席にいたグループに届いたハンバーガーを見て梅四郎の目ん玉は飛び出した！
