The plus points of the hotel: The hotel was clean and the bed was comfortable. We had a nice view from the window. The breakfast was substantial.||The negative points: The lack of parking was a real issue, the nearest parking on our arrival was in Green Street car park which is a 10 minute walk away, not great when its pouring with rain. The nearer car park was completely full. We saw very little of the staff other than the ladies who served breakfast, and when we did see them they were unhelpful (not the breakfast ladies). I dropped my wife near the door with our case and went to the car park, the person on reception (who was having a cigarette break outside) offered no help with the case even though he could see my wife was struggling. He just gave her the key and the room number and left her to get on with it. The room was disappointing, the tiny bathroom contained the toilet and shower, with the sink in the bedroom which was very inconvenient. The room was also very noisy from early in the morning, on our first morning the dustmen arrived at 5.40am and made a great deal of noise emptying the bins, on the subsequent morning the traffic noise started at around 6.30am. |The breakfast was substantial but much of it had been cooked and kept hot (the bacon particularly was dried up). As I think other reviewers have mentioned, orange juice is pre-poured into a small glass and left out on the table for when guests arrive. It would have been nice to be able to be able to refill the glass. Toast was provided at the same time the tea/coffee arrived, which meant it was cold by the time the breakfast arrived.|We actually checked out a day early as we were celebrating our wedding anniversary during our stay and decided we would enjoy it more elsewhere. We packed up around lunchtime and then looked around for a member of staff to check out with, we called out, stood around for about 10 minutes before finally writing a note to say we had checked out leaving this on the bar with our key. Disturbingly we noticed that behind the bar was a basket with all the room keys, not exactly...
Read moreI saw that 6 days ago someone said that this is terrible Greek food and you called them a scam. Why? Because they're not allowed an opinion? Well sorry but I'm reporting the EXACT SAME THING. This is embarrassing for Greek food. It was good about 5 years ago but it has gone downhill with portion sizes, thought and taste. Firstly the dips, THEY'RE TINY, with a small pita bread cut in 2?! Then the exact same small salad garnish on each dish from starter to mains! With a horrible salad cream. Salad cream...very Greek right?
For mains how can you serve my friend fish and me prawn ouzo dish with just 2 lemon pieces cut from eighths? You can't squeeze juice out of an eighth, try it please try! Even if I wanted to squeeze it it's sitting in a pool of sauce (that tastes nothing like ouzo) so my fingers are going in the sauce to fish out a lemon eighth! Just give everyone half a lemon wedge you can't cut corners on everything it's embarrassing.
The lamb kofte (please note ive never heard of kofte as a Greek it's Iranian and then passed its way to Turkey) came... THREE TINY ones with ONE SMALL PITA cut in 2. Please note everyone this is for £20!!! Ridiculous! They used to give 2 massive lamb kofte. Again an eight of a lemon was provided which I tried to squeeze but it was too small to get any juice. Is it decorative maybe? What a waste.... The desert options... NEW YORK cheesecake, ah yes- very Greek! Or...Lemoncello...very Greek too! Oh I must be a scammer too to say these things right? The high reviews are from people who simply don't know any better, limited experience in Jersey. Tiny...
Read moreOn arrival at the port in St. Hilier I set the GPS to the hotel’s address. We did not know the geography of the city and the GPS routes us over the mountain. As we were confused by the difficult walk, we stopped and tried to reset the GPS. Luckily a fellow stopped and shared a much easier and direct route. He warned though that it goes through a tunnel and that this was not a pleasant part of the walk. It took was about 30 minutes to finally get to the hotel. It is situated right on the strand overlooking the public pool. Since we were early our room was not ready. We were able to leave our luggage at the hotel. Our room was small and the amenities were limited. There was kettle with coffee and tea in the room. The bathroom was small with separate hot and cold taps in the sink. But it was very clean, quiet with daily room service. Breakfast was a full English breakfast with many choices on offer. It was very good. The hotel has a Greek restaurant in which we ate a couple of times. The food was very good and well priced. There was a nice pub nearby and also another restaurant. There is a nice walk into the city along the waterfront but it is a bit longer. We became used to the 15 to 20 minute into St. Hilier. We planned our days so that we minimised our return to the hotel. There is also regular bus service passing right in front of the hotel to downtown. We stayed here for 5 nights and found the accommodation and the...
