La Esquina — Restaurant in Amman

this Mexican restaurant and honestly the food was so good like really really good. I had quesadillas and tacos and both were super flavorful and fresh. The tacos had this nice mix of spices and texture and the quesadilla was cheesy and just the right amount of crispy on the outside. Everything tasted homemade and you can tell they’re using good quality ingredients. I was really happy with the food

But I’m gonna be real the prices were kind of high. Like the portions were okay not too small but still I felt like it was a bit overpriced for what it is. You’ll enjoy the food for sure but just be ready to spend a bit more than expected The customer service was just okay. Nothing bad happened or anything but it wasn’t super friendly either. They were nice in a basic way they brought the food and did what they had to do but there wasn’t that extra warmth or attention you sometimes get in other places. So it’s like yeah they were fine just not memorable or super welcoming

Now the place itself is really really pretty. It has such a nice vibe when you walk in. The decor is colorful and cozy it really gives you that Mexican feel in a modern way. I loved the small details they put into the design it made the whole experience more enjoyable just being there. It’s definitely a spot you’d want to take pictures in or just relax with friends

Overall I’d say if you’re craving good Mexican food and you don’t mind spending a bit extra then it’s worth checking out. The food really delivers and the atmosphere is beautiful even if the service wasn’t amazing. I’d probably go back again for the vibes and the food for sure but I just wish the prices were a little more reasonable and the staff a bit more engaging but...

I reaaaally wanted to love the food here... Love the vibe of the place, nice ambience especially the bar being in the center of the place. We had several Taco dishes, they were ok, comparable to free the fork which is not great considering we are at a Mexican resto. Favorite was the birria if I had to choose one. The others lacked the salsa and sauce aspect, chicken was dry in some cases. The steak quesidilla is like any other quesadilla you could find in amman minus the chewey dense cheese, I'd opt out for bonita's quesadilla. The other 2 important aspects that was lacking is the sour cream and avocado. The sour cream was labaneh tasting which is common in amman, was hoping for the real mexican crema, and with those prices, you could afford to get the real stuff, at least a bittle of cholula hot sauce on the table. The other is the Avocado "sauce" which tasted a bit out of the pouch, this was drizzled on the tacos in some cases. Lastly, we ended with the churros, I wish we hadn't and opted for donutry. They were dense, pre-made and tasted a bit dated, they came with 3 sauces: caramel, strawberry and "nutella" which is not pure Nutella. Was hoping there would be a twist to the dipping sauces such as chili in the chocolate, or a dulce de Leche instead of plain caramel, at least add some salt for a twist. The strawberry just tasted like heated jam, would have been nice to have the strawberry with some lime or something different. Overall taste value for money pass. I heard good review about it at the restaurant, so I thought I’d try ordering it but the experience wasn’t the best, I did the order and after waiting for it they called to tell me their delivery person didn’t have enough cash to deliver my order”as if it’s my fault” also when I ordered I asked to pay with a card and they said only cash which wasn’t even available as they told me and that they’re sorry and will have to wait longer to get me another driver which means more time waiting and I suggested I send them a careem box and pay for the delivery service myself which I should be doing but anyways I did and the food arrived SUPER COLD the nachos cheese was a block and the nachos were soggy, the rest of the food was COLD I ordered the dynamite shrimp was SUPER chewy, the breading and the shrimp itself, dunno if that because it was cold or that how it is, the food in general wasn’t bad I think… but if your delivery had issues you should’ve fired new order and sorted it out and apologized for the extra wait time, but I ended up eating cold food, waited extra time and payed for my own delivery. Maybe at the restaurant the experience will be different so I’d recommend you guys go try the food but I don’t suggest...
