This is the first time we’ve ever experienced rude service at a Starbucks. We’re traveling from abroad and collecting Starbucks mugs from each country we visit. At the Koktobe branch in Almaty, we bought a total of 5 mugs.
We politely asked the staff to pack them in separate paper bags, but the guy behind the counter suddenly snapped at us, non verbatim “USE GOOGLE TRANSLATE AND SPEAK RUSSIAN” in a very rude tone.
We completely understand the language barrier, but there was no effort to be kind or professional. He stared us down until we paid and walked out—it was uncomfortable and honestly upsetting. I couldn’t help but feel discriminated against, especially seeing how differently he treated the customers before us. It felt like he saw us as people who couldn’t afford to pay.
Starbucks is an international brand, and we’ve always had great experiences elsewhere. But this visit really left a bad impression. If you’re having a bad day, don’t take it out on customers. Very disappointing. The staff name starts...
