The best mutton vindaloo (curry) I have had since the 1990s. Amazing! However, it is true that I brought my own chilis from South India for inclusion in the vindaloo. Liked the vindaloo so much I ordered a second portion. Matched with fine latcha porotha (bread). Jeera rice was less fantastic but adequate. Only let-down was the crispy chicken and crispy vegetable drawn off the Chinese menu. These crispy items I would have been better served not to have ordered at all; actually, I really wanted the tandoori chicken but that item was unavailable. I was surprised on the menu to see a "European" section in the menu in a restaurant called "Eastern" Gate. As well, I was surprised to find a "Lebanese" section. While Chinese fits with an Indian restaurant, Chinese food prepared the Indian way is the second most popular food only behind Indian food in India, European and Lebanese are entirely different cuisines. I would recommend concentrating on the Indian and Chinese portions of the menu. As mentioned, the Chinese portion, if the crispy dishes are an adequate indicator, need some improvement. Large place with multi-room dining. I was sequestered to the second floor. Comfortable seating. Smoke free. Friendly servers. I really wanted a bottle of Borzhomi (mineral water) or Kazakh or Russian equivalent but was put off by mineral water being served by the glass so I could be served anything not seeing the bottle. I might add that I do not drink Bon Aqua! (To my mind, BA is fake mineral water.) I opted instead for beer so I was served Pauliner Hefe-weissbeer (a fine brew but I would have been satisfied with a cheaper Russian beer). I would strongly suggest that mineral water is served not by the glass but...
Read moreAs we arrived here for dinner , there was already a group tour having their dinner. I ordered my food after the group had almost finished their dinner. I got my Tandoori roti and Mix veg raita and jeera rice first. After about 10 mins I got the Channa masala curry. By the time the curry came the Roti had become absolutely cold. The worst part that the staff did admit that the roti became cold but did not change it. Later the owner can to me when I ordered an extra roti. I told him about the problem but he said that that waiter is a new waiter and it’s difficult to find people etc etc.
Worst service and bad reputation to an...
