I stayed four nights in October 2018 and the overall experience was good. Nice, central location with many attractions within walking distance. Reasonable priced. ||||Very easy access from and to the airport using bus number 92. The ticket is just 150 tenge (= 0,36 euro). (Have exact amount in cash when entering the bus). Excellent solution if you want to avoid the dishonest and greedy taxi drivers and who wouldn’t. ||||Bus 92 departs just outside the terminal. Ask at the helpful information desk if you want directions. And approx. 40 minutes later you are next to the hotel. ||||The rooms are fine, good size, beds are comfortable, bathrooms (with hair dryer) quite ok, mini bar (no alcoholic drinks) is cheap and there is a nice wardrobe. Only downsides: a bit difficult to open and lock the door, WiFi signal strength a bit on the weak side and the TV set was very poor (really old, poor quality and only a few channels available).||||Very friendly, polite and helpful staff. There is a business room with a computer and printer (suitable for instance if you need to print your boarding card) and when this doesn’t work, the reception staff will help you.||||I wasn’t too pleased with the breakfast. It wasn’t terrible - but it wasn’t a winner. No orange juice, no fresh fruit, no ham slices, no bacon, fresh vegetables were limited to cucumbers and tomatoes and some of the food (sausage slices) looked like it was several days old. The boiled eggs were overcooked - not once - but every morning. Only one kind of white bread available. ||||The breakfast is within the Turkish restaurant ‘Marina Et & Balik’ next door (but still connected with the hotel). I had dinner here once. The meal was OK but I believe prices in this restaurant are a bit on the expensive side compared to the many other restaurants of Almaty. ||||There are two well-supplied supermarkets close by. It takes 6-7 minutes to walk to them. They are Stolichny at Abylai Khan Ave 121 (open 24h) and in the opposite direction SMALL Supermarket (near KFC) at Tole...

Location. Everything was about just 2km away. :-) Some to the north, some to the south, you cannot choose a better location -- if you plan to go around by walking (as most tourists do, I guess). There is a big shop at the next intersection, a little shop right next to the hotel; coffees all around.||There is even a metro station at the parallel street (a few minutes walk), but that goes from nowhere to nowhere, so not much help. But at least cheap :-)||Breakfast was a bit plain, but the selection is relatively good. Boiled eggs, sausages, muezli, cheese, vegetables, sweets. And since it is a restaurant otherwise, you can order your choice (eg. scrambled eggs, or some soup, whatever you think of), and that's still in the price. Again: the hotel has a restaurant, so even if you're lazy to discover the numerous options in town, you don't need to go to bed hungry.||The room was spacious, but smelled a bit of oldness, perhaps even tobacco (although it was a non-smoking room).||The staff was good, if we've had any request or problems, they made it happen/fixed it quickly.||Although there is a free wifi, it doesn't work flawlessly. Mostly just slow, but also the connection sometimes disappears. Good enough for checking emails/social media; frustrating...

The bed was really good and comfortable. The shower had good pressure and temperature, but was not very sturdy connected to the wall. As was the toilet, every time you sit down, you fear it will fall of the wall. The air conditioning worked well, though made quite some noise. Breakfast was ok, but the staff not very attentive (had to ask for new tea, coffee, toast, and they seemed not to understand English very well). Good that it is possible to store your luggage and the wifi worked well too. Lots of toiletries, so no worries if you forgot your toothbrush or -paste. Only one thing: it is marked twice on google maps, therefore we lost some time searching the hotel at the wrong address. Oh, and the elevator did not work (and it seemed they were not going to fix that soon)

This is a old hotel, set your expectations and you will be happy. The hotel area is full of restaurants, clothing shops, grocery stores, even a Starbucks nearby. The hotel is old school, the elevator doesn’t work, some of our friends room was just bug sprayed, little hard to breathe. Our room was large, clean enough, shower have good water flow and drained well. The morning breakfast was little weak, wasn’t lot of options.

Staying at this hotel has been a truly pleasant experience—it feels peaceful and homey. The staff are accommodating and polite. While language can occasionally be a challenge, much like in the rest of the city, they always do their best to assist and provide great service. The building and interiors may show their age, but the overall comfort and welcoming atmosphere make it a lovely place to stay.
