Arnau — Restaurant in Astana

We had an amazing dining experience at Arnau in Astana. The food was absolutely delicious and beautifully presented, giving us a perfect introduction to Kazakh cuisine. We tried a variety of traditional dishes, and every single one was excellent.

The Kazakh meat delicacies and the smoked horse meat Beshbarmak really stood out for their authentic flavors. The Kespe (horse soup) and lamb rib soup were rich, hearty, and comforting, while the beef and pumpkin samsa was fresh and perfectly baked. For dessert, the honey cake was soft and fragrant, but the real star was the Pavlova, light, sweet, and unforgettable!

The atmosphere of the restaurant is cozy and welcoming, with great service throughout our meal. The staff were friendly, attentive, and made sure we had everything we needed.

Positiv: lamb shashlik was good! End of positive😏Not good: Communication in english not possible- thanks to 1 person of our group who speaks Russian we managed to order. At the end we got one dish we didn’t order- the waiter was stubborn like an old donkey- we ordered it- end of discussion! We had to pay it- customer service-zero! Expensive as well, most of it overpriced! One main course arrived after all other people of our group finished their meal- bad timing! No flexibility when it comes to paying- we had to separate our 10 party bill ourselves and were expected than one of us pays everything- we are just colleagues!! Arnau is the best Central Asian restaurant that I could find in Astana. Their menu is so huge. Beshbarmak was my number one priority. The only negative side of that dish is that it's so filling that you can't really eat anything else after it. Sorpa was my second favorite. That lamb ribs soup is so incredibly tasty. Manty was my third pick. I just had to try them, and they were amazing. I also tried Kumis and Shubat, the horse and the camel fermented milk drinks respectively.
