An authentic restaurant on the banks of the Ishim River in Astana boasts a delicious menu. It also features dishes from Turkish cuisine like kebabs, döner kebabs, and güveç, but as visitors from Türkiye, we wanted to experience some of the local cuisine. First, I had Okroshka, my favorite soup from my trip to Kazakhstan. Made with cucumber, eggs, potatoes, kefir, mayonnaise, dill and soda. This delicious soup served cold and is truly refreshing. I also tried the dumpling soup, made with small dumplings and I liked it better than any I've had before. For main courses, I had "fried lagman boso on tomato" and "lagman gyanbian-tsomian". Both were beautifully cooked, thick noodles, beautifully cooked with meat and vegetables, resulting in a truly delicious dish. We also ordered ‘Turfan chicken,’ which I can say was the most delicious fried chicken I have ever tasted in my life. Whatever cooking and seasoning techniques they use, the food was truly incredible. We also tried various delicious lemonades and fruit-flavoured drinks, which were also quite successful. The interior is authentically designed, and the moment you enter, you'll experience a comfortable and enjoyable atmosphere. From the tables to the hallways and restrooms, the place is very clean. The waiters were also very attentive. In Kazakhstan, service is generally not very fast, so I have no complaints about that. Regarding the prices, I must say that we had a wonderful experience, both visually and deliciously, and the prices are quite reasonable. If I ever find myself in Astana, I'd definitely visit this restaurant again. I highly...
Read moreThis is one of the best places in town to get "Oriental" cuisine. There is a huge selection of Uyghur, Uzbek, Kazakh, Dungan and Turkish dishes. They tend to be very busy and you are better off making a reservation or arriving early, but the place is very efficient and moves a large number of people through quickly. The food is the strong point, along with moderate prices and a fine atmosphere. The wait staff is a bit overstretched, but generally the service is fine. It is located on the corner of Bökeykhan and Ghumar Qarash, just by the Bökeykhan statue on the river embankment (just north of Samal). The traffic and parking in this area are too congested, but there are places available nearby on...
Read moreI used to visit this place frequently 5 years ago and was very surprised when I saw how good it looks now. Restaurant has been refurbished and the menu was changed. Now it looks much better, menu is more structured and has pictures of each meal, which really helps you to make a choice. The tea menu is offered with a great selection of fruit tea. We chose a tea with cherry and lime and something else and it was gorgeous. I do suggest you to give it a try. They also bake their own bread, which you might finish even before they bring hot meal, as it is tasty and fresh and smells so good. If you want to try national Kazakh cuisine I do suggest you to...
