I've never been so impressed by a restaurant as much as I was at Soy!
Visited the place to try the Chinese cuisine and goodness! My tastebuds had the best and I was mindblown by how good the food was.
Every single food was done so well and I'd definitely come back here just to ensure I try out everything on the menu. We did 4 out of the 5 drinks on the menu and they were all great! The food took about 10 minutes to be presented to us and drinks even a shorter time; Mombasa restaurants are notorious for taking too long to serve food so this was a big plus.
The spot is by the roadside, along Jomo Kenyatta Avenue road and as such, a lot of noise from passing vehicles & tuktuks is expected; but since they've used soundproof glass, you can be sure the noise is significantly reduced. The interior is so beautifully done thus, the ambience is great!
The only thing which was ish ish for me was the fact that all the waiters are male and I totally understand there could be a policy or preference. Just found it a bit odd. Also, hopefully they make use of coasters for the drinks. Otherwise, everything else is perfect!
I was with 3 friends and we spent around kshs. 3,560 ie kshs. 890 per person which is a good amount covering food and drinks. So, I truly believe this is an affordable spot for Chinese cuisine as compared to other similar spots around Mombasa.

Read moreI can understand why people are impressed with this place. They’ve really gone out of their way to design a lovely interior. Ill give them that.
Location is smack in the center of CBD but they make up for it with private parking with a security guard, so no worries there.
As for the food, we had: •Hot & sour soup 5/5 •Chicken Spring rolls 5/5 •Dry chilli beef 1/5 •Chicken noodles 5/5 •Chicken fried rice 4/5 •Sichuan chicken 3/5 •Prawn sizzler 2/5
Food with the low ratings are because they were bland and not unique - didn’t have a signature flavour.
Overall we had a good experience. The service was incredibly delightful and responsive, but our hopes were a little too high...
Read moreI recently placed an online order with Soy Restaurant in Mombasa for chicken fried rice. Unfortunately, I was extremely disappointed with the meal. The rice had no taste and was completely bland.
I immediately reached out to the restaurant to express my dissatisfaction, but received no response to my complaint. It's disappointing that the staff didn't take my concerns seriously or make an effort to rectify the situation.
Based on my experience, I cannot recommend Soy Restaurant. The lack of taste and attention to detail in the food, combined with the unresponsive staff, left me with a bad impression of the restaurant. I will not be ordering from this establishment again...
