I'd heard about this place for so long, finally made the trek there and was pleasantly surprised.
First, since it's Ramadan, we were given compmintary dates, samosas water and chaai to break our fast and a place to pray.
Then the food, alright, quantity may not be the biggest thing here, but flavour and consistency was down right perfect.
The chooza chicken is super flavourful, down to the bone, mushkaki was super soft, I don't remember the last time I had mushkaki that I didn't have to fight with my teeth lol. Got poussin fries and naan on the side and they were also great, naan was nice and thick and well buttered, fries came well seasoned and honestly were a sizable portion.
Everything came with salad and enough sauces to drown all the plates, chooza sauce was def a fave.
Service was top notch. We had a dedicated main server taking our orders and checking in, as well as a server to clear our plates and bringing extras like sauces and the chaai. Staff were super nice and always smiling.
Aesthetically, the place is also pretty up there. They have a small outdoor area that we used. They had fairy lights and a decent view from there. Place is also super clear and spacious, can easily rest in a food coma after a good food session lol.
I wanna say roughly, you'd be looking at spending around 1500/- per person depending on your order. 3 of us went and our order came to 4500/- with 3 coke zeros, 2 fries, 2 naans, chooza chicken...
Read moreDisclaimer, Hashmis is not and does not pretend to be a high end dining facility. That said, they have perfected a couple of things that make them very successful as both an eatery and business model. One is that they have maintained a consistently standard quality with their whole menu over the years. The food as of the last time I was there 2 weeks ago is exactly the same as I remember it 9 years ago. The barbecues are well balanced, the naans soft and fluffy, the chips always fresh and the sauces are the perfect condiments for all the fare. Second is that these guys are EFFICIENT!!! Even at the height of rush hour when there is a waiting queue for tables, you will hardly feel like you waited too long or that your food took an unreasonable amount of time. To sum up, there are very few barbeque places that can match them in quality and consistency of service. On a heartbreaking note, their branch in Mombasa closed, I feel very vulnerable and despondent...
Read moreIt gives me immense pleasure to express how incredibly satisfied I am with my dining experience at Hashmis Restaurant today. Having recently relocated from Dubai, I was ecstatic to discover that Hashmis Restaurant was back in town. Known for their delectable dishes, I had missed their mouthwatering delicacies during their absence. Today, I was eager to sample their renowned items, and I must say, I was not disappointed.
