If you love good food and excellent hospitality, then a visit to Nairobi’s famous Taste Of China should be top of the list! Run by Arty & Jits Lakhani and their son Kishan, we were treated like royalty. To be honest, every customer received the same treatment…..but we have an edge over them; Arty is Henal’s only cousin in Nairobi so this visit to their restaurant was like a homecoming.

Firstly, the decor of the restaurant is incredible. The sculptures of dragons 🐉 on the walls are all created by a local artist and they look stunning. There are also statues of Buddha dotted around, plus lush greenery, which make the restaurant really welcoming and transports you to the Far East 🇨🇳.

Now onto the food! The menu is vast and caters for all dietary requirements. And the portions are MASSIVE!! Zaiya had her favourite, Satay Chicken and Noodles 🍜, whilst we enjoyed a variety of different dishes, ranging from Crispy Babycorn, Chilli Cashewnuts, Glazed Chicken Wings, Honey Chilli Chicken, Tempura Prawns 🍤, Veggie Momos and the showstopper…. the flaming 🔥 chicken! Each dish was super tasty and cooked fresh to order. We just couldn’t stop eating!

I highly recommend that you visit, not because they are family (I was going to this restaurant waaaay before I met Henal and my family are regulars there) but because the food and service and ambience is exceptional 💯

Visited today and I do from time to time. One of the best indochinese restaurants so overall it was a nice experience however it could've been a touch better to make it an outstanding experience. The food overall was very nice. The spring rolls weren't as usual expectations however usually are nice. We usually order a lot of starters and less main dishes. I would recommend the passion juice for a drink and then for the starters I had the spare ribs, honey pili pili chicken, dry chili chicken, chili garlic prawns and crispy fried vegetables. For mains foil chicken which is served by burning alcohol on salt in the foil which is a nice saucy chicken in foil served to your table with flames and clever me, I forgot to take pictures. I also had the gung bao chicken and egg fried rice. Outside, there is also a very nice view of Nairobi city and even Machakos plus other hills if you look outside in the balcony. This is the PERFECT restaurant to visit when you have a hankering for some GOOD Chinese food! I had such an amazing time at Taste of China from the minute the elevator doors opened, and I saw the decor in entryway. The waiters were very friendly and eager to serve and made sure that we were well taken care of through our evening there. The view of the Nairobi/Parklands skyline from the balcony was absolutely breathtaking and beautiful. The food was absolutely incredible, and it was some of the best Chinese food I have had the pleasure of eating in Nairobi. The portions were also incredibly generous with one main option and side actually being enough for two people. I would highly recommend this restaurant for a date night with your significant other, girlfriends or for a place to come with your larger family to enjoy a meal.
