I stayed in this place for 5 days, and I left my room in 'Do Not Disturb' mode the entire time—I wanted everything to be precisely where I left it whenever I returned from the workshops downstairs.
THE ROOM The liquid soap is moisterizing (and smelled good) and the hair blower worked. There is enough space in the storage to store everything. It even has a little shoe cleaning kit, and a sewing kit for if there are any wardrobe emergencies. I appreciated these 'little things'. They also had an iron, which I believe I used. They provide a folder, notepads and pencils. I wish the pencils had a softer lead (like 3B or 5B)—I think that would be a wonderful surprise for anyone who would wants to make a quick sketch. The pillows were fluffy and just firm enough for my liking. It was very comfortable; perhaps too comfortable. I partly blame this bed for sleeping through my alarms twice. My only qualm was that one has to call room service for toothpaste, and I felt strangely bad about making someone come all the way to my floor for a little toothpaste. I wished I had just bought some of my own. It would also be nice to have a little hair oil in the bathroom, because that's something that's tricky to pack in a suitcase without risking an oil-leak incident.
THE FOOD The buffets here made me realize how accustomed I am to my and mom's food back home. I'm a vegetarian, and there was quite a wide selection of vegetarian food, but most of them didn't appeal to me (none of the dishes I tried were spicy!). But after a little while, I found food combinations that worked great for me (although my plates did get quizzical looks from my colleagues).
I'm sorry to say I was especially disappointed by the dessert, night after night. They always looked cute and tempted one to try them, but they were always dry or lacking in another way—I hope those would be better next time.
EVERYTHING ELSE The hotel has a generator so, when there were power cuts (and there were a couple during my stay), they switched on the generator almost immediately after. The Wi-Fi was not working very well in the Baobab Meeting Room, especially on the latter days. Following fellow reviewers recommendations here, my colleagues and I went to the top floor and saw the rotating restaurant. That was trippy! It was also great to hear one of the waiters and my college describe different parts of Nairobi through the window as the floor we were on moved. As someone who tends to get sea sick, I don't think I would be able to eat there, but I was great to see that marvel of engineering at work.

Read moreThis is a review for anyone traveling with young kids under 2 years and older folks over 65 years!!! I live in the USA and wanted to take my American in-laws to visit Kenya, as a new mom my one year old son was obviously with me. The location of Movenpick in Nairobi makes it perfect for business travels but if your are on vacation and needs a place to relax this is ideal!
From planning our vacation the front office and receptionist were extremely professional and prompt ! Huge respect and gratitude to Mr. Kienji one of the Managers, from the very first day he tailor made my stay to accommodate my MIL and my one year old son! Thankyou Kienji!!!!!
The rooms were the most spacious and exceeded the 5 star standards ; with air conditioning, warm showers , beautiful bathtub and the BLACKOUT CURTAINS were the best thing ever! My baby could nap anytime.
, if I am right Thomas cleaned our rooms for the 3 weeks we were there he was respectful and thorough.
The grounds are beautiful, hidden lush green blooming plants, enjoyed the massive heated pool that was kept exceptionally clean! It was quiet unlike most hotels in Nairobi that entertain too many parties at night!
The magic happens on the second floor! The Kijani restaurant and bar is a slice of heaven!!!! Thankyou everyone who made us feel like family ! !!!!!Julia and all the ladies and gentlemen on the restaurant are some of the kindest people I have ever met!!! !!!!
We enjoyed fresher brewed authentic Kenyan coffee and tea! The cocktails made you think of Bahamas and the food was always fresh and yummy! I miss the morning shots ( it’s an immune shot curated for ur health! ) don’t skip it during breakfast!!!
We had a few dinners up in the revolving restaurant and got to see the beautiful Nairobi in its glory!! The hotel is a walking distance to most joints in Westland !
Our last day was the hardest! We wanted to stay longer lol as soon as we got back to America we planned another trip to Kenya see you in...
