Yul's Restaurant — Restaurant in Shanzu ward

Declined in quality of customer service.

Waitress by name of Jennifer was extremely rude. Telling us that we have to order something else apart from drinks! We had planned to order drinks at that time as it was the evening and to have dinner as well. Coffee arrived just partially hot which was dissapointing really.

We have been there several times ordering food worth over $1000 and past few visits have been dissapointing.

One time, we had ordered a lot of food and had requested an extra or bigger table for us as we had ordered a lot and the space was not enough. The Waitress at that time declined our request. Plates filled up the table and it was overcrowded like a train in Japan.

Another time, our Waitress forgot our order and after 1 hour, we were told that the order hadn't been placed by us. And when we re-ordered, it came after an another hour.

Today, Jennifer told us that coffees were not enough and we have to order some dishes because it may get full and people will need seats. What?! We had ordered something and were going to order after a while, but decided that due to the tone of the waitress, the quality of the coffee and the fact that they don't look they need our business, we went elsewhere.

It was the preferred option for food and ice cream but past few visits have extremely dissapointed some repeated customers and will rethink visiting either for Jet Ski where they say 20 minutes but give you around 15 mins,...

First visit and I tried the cheeseburger, Excellent is the word I give it. It was extremely tasty and totally enjoyed. Had the chocolate souffle for dessert and it was what I expected. Waiters were excellent and they are extremely professional in their manner. I would eat here again anytime.

I have returned here a few more times and have had the honey prawns entree and the aquadrome pizza. The honey prawns are very tasty, and the pizza was pretty average, nothing special for pizza. Tried the dessert with ice cream and cherries and it topped of the meal with a very filling dessert.

Went here another night and decided on the Yul's cheeseburger again, and was very disappointed. The bread roll was old and stale, and as a result of it then being cut in half and toasted, it was dry and parts of it were crumbling in my hands, it actually made the cheeseburger taste very different than previously as the stale bread roll dominated the flavours. I supplied my feedback to the waiter and I think it may have been a manager asked if all was ok, so I explained about the stale bread roll being a disappointment. Hope they put feedback...

I know Yul‘s since 30 year‘s when he started. And since 30 year‘s Yul is keeping the german quality in his restaurants. I know Robert’s, Moorings, Nico, Tamarind, The Marina and other restaurants in Mombasa which are already closed due to loosing quality. But only one is keeping his high quality. The pizza is better than Robert’s (I was really upset about the quality there now and do not understand the Hype for that restaurant) and Nico, the Burgers are without competition and always fresh made grounded meat. The avocado prawns are the best and Tamarind cannot compete against Yul’s seafood dishes. The dishes is outstanding and German standard. This is the only restaurant which keeps is standard over year’s and even Yul is not there. I have been here this week several times as I did holidays in August and will come back in December for fishing. Thanks for Daniel for the good service at the table.
