It's always a dilemma for me to review the expensive dining spots. I know very well how much a dish should cost and how all the ingredients can play a role in the experience , but when I am faced with these high mark up places a little voice keeps nagging in my head whether the price was worth it or not.
Luckily with Jamawar the voice shut itself up after the first few bites. The food was excellently presented, timely, and more than advertised. The portions were generous and the atmosphere was just perfect. My only personal qualm would be the same problem I have with all Indian restaurants that always presume I am not cut out for the native level of spice. Since I don't appear to be from an Asian background, the waiter kept asking repeatedly if I was sure I wanted the maximum level of hot. In the end he decided to err on the side of caution and served me a mildly hot Dal Makhni.... Which was actually pretty good.
I appreciate their concern for my safety but if you're a chilli aficionado like me, don't expect to cut loose and indulge yourself. You'd have to seek out the other places I have noted in other reviews for that...

The service was genuinely frustrating. We had to go back and forth multiple times with a waitress who kept forgetting our order, and it felt like we were being completely overlooked. The food took forever to arrive, and I’ve honestly never experienced such slow service at a restaurant of this supposed caliber.
When the food finally came, it just… didn’t deliver. The flavors were underwhelming, the dishes lacked balance, and for the prices they charge, it was nowhere near worth it. I would’ve had a better, more satisfying meal at an average Indian street food place—for a fraction of the price.
All in all, it was a poor experience that I wouldn’t recommend. It’s unfortunate, because I really expected better from a restaurant that positions itself as upscale. But sadly, it missed the...
Read moreWe visited Jamawar Restaurant for the very first time last week with a friend - and indeed our experience was a very pleasant one! The beautiful carved Indian Darwaaza at the entrance brought us into a world of true Indian Hospitality! Enjoying the Authentic Indian Flavors in a Traditional Indian ambience was something we never expected! Ms. Rupa our Host for that day, was very professional, kind and cheerful, and she guided us to choose the very best from the menu. Being a Proud Indian myself, and a Promoter of Indian Art & Furniture in Kuwait, I was pleasantly surprised to see a beautiful collection of Indian Decor very tastefully displayed all over the Restaurant. I will definitely visit again, with more friends and collegues of other Nationalities - to Jamawar, where I can give them an opportunity to experience our Indian hospitality - with pride!
