Extremely Disappointing Experience on Mother’s Day
I am writing to express my profound disappointment with the experience we had at your restaurant today, particularly on such a significant occasion. We chose Liza to celebrate Mother’s Day, trusting that it would be the usual satisfying experience we’ve come to expect. Unfortunately, that was not the case.
I made a reservation for lunch a week in advance, yet the hostess failed to inform me that a wedding was taking place at the same time. Upon our arrival, we were shocked to find ourselves seated in a very cramped area, squeezed between the welcome drink station and the wedding lunch. The noise from the wedding, including loud music and the chaos that came with it, made it impossible for us to enjoy our meal and properly celebrate the occasion. It is incredibly disappointing that you chose to accommodate 3-4 tables for extra profit, despite already hosting a wedding.
Had I been informed about this situation when I made the reservation or when the hostess confirmed our booking on the same day, I would have reconsidered dining at Liza. Furthermore, I had a baby under one who was forced to endure the overwhelming noise. We struggled to hear each other over the loud music and were forced to shout to hold a conversation. The staff, meanwhile, were running around and shouting from the windows. When we asked one of the waiters to tone it down, his response was, “We are at a restaurant, not a nursery,” which I find to be completely unacceptable and disrespectful.
I requested to speak with a manager to address these issues, but no one came to our table. This lack of response further highlights the lack of professionalism and attention to customer satisfaction at Liza we usually expect.
As former regulars at Liza’s, I must say that this experience has left us deeply dissatisfied. Given the events of today, I cannot see us returning to your restaurant in the future. Unfortunately, what should have been a special celebration of Mother’s Day was marred by poor planning, inadequate communication, and a complete lack of respect for your...
Read moreRarely are both the interior and exterior of a restaurant charming. With Liza, it was the case; the outer entrance portrayed the elegance that was to come. You could tell that what was waiting for us inside was going to be decorated with refined taste. It did not disappoint. From the adorable courtyard, to the elevator leading upstairs, and the hallway adorned with lighting; they all maintained a coherent theme. At the end of the corridor, you are greeted with high ceilings and rooms embellished with wallpaper, flooring, lighting, and furniture that are extremely pleasing to the eye. Whichever way you look, it is all well thought of to the tiniest detail. It made me hold my breath in anticipation, awaiting the beautiful presentation of the food we were going to order. We ordered several mezze items, of which my favorite was the kibbe; it fell apart easily inside your mouth revealing its goodness. The hummus and the kafta arayess were really good as well. The shanklish was tasty, but it was a tad spicy. The fries were homemade, which is always appreciated. The fattoush and cheese rolls were fine, but not great. However, I did love the neatness in presentation, which consolidated the fact that Lebanese food can be presented in an appealing way. The mix of metal and pottery vessels used to display the food was creative and lovely. I do not remember a Lebanese restaurant that showcased the grilled meat, kafta, and chicken in a better manner to date. The coffee and desserts further retained the elegant presentation. The rice pudding was good, and the chocolate cake was simultaneously rich, dense, and brittle. As for the service, the hostess and the waiters were welcoming and friendly. All in all, I enjoyed my meal at Liza. Although the concoctions on their own are not outstanding, the presentation, decoration, and the whole ambiance all complement the food and each other wonderfully making it more of an experience than just...
Read moreWorst experience ever!! My sister booked for her engagement before one month on a saturday evening. Two weeks before the party they called and apologized that on this date the restaurant is fully booked, after that she told the host CAROL that several people were coming from abroad and need to book their tickets. So, they agreed on a friday evening. My sister went to the restaurant and chose the 'money room' and called twice to confirm the room. On the day of the engagement on arrival, they told us that the room is fully booked and that we have chosen the 'building room' which wasnt true. Because during the evening during, we found out that the french embassy booked the whole room. On the top of that we chose the big "formule" the one with fish in it, and most of the food mentioned was not presented ( like the loukoz and the special of the month fish), and what was presented was in a very small quantity.
I dont get it how can such a restaurant not respect any reservation specially for an engagement. Its a very typical lebanese thing! I bet the others paid more and got the room. Not to mention that they didnt offer any discount or any other type of reconciliation. For such a price and such an experience i would never revisit and definetly not recommend it. I think i should have chosen em'sherif for a better food quality, quantity, and at least for respecting their...
