HONEY WE’RE HOME!
We kept been blaming Roadster Diner for years of being late to the Vegan Party! But they proved to us, that they were right when they decided they’d rather be the Best than the First!
Roadster Diner now offers vegan items!
TWO Vegan Burgers! TWO Vegan Salads! A Vegan Pasta! & TWO Vegan Desserts!
It’s worth saying that Roadster Diner, is the first mainstream restaurant to think out of the box when it comes to vegan recipes!
Gone is the Cumin & Kale in every single product! Only WHEN & IF needed!
Vegan Burgers, are two totally different and delicious Burgers, and not a single one of them tastes like Falafel!
We mean, if we wanted to eat a falafel, we’d order a Falafel Sandwich, not a burger, Right?
Pasta is an exquisite dish that lacks no taste or ingredient! Just perfect!
Salads are a blast of symbiotic flavors in your mouth! And in an era when ALL restaurants salads for one reason or another contain cheese, chicken, eggs and meat in them, seeing two salads, other than the boring as hell green leaves one, be vegan was a real joy!
And don’t get us started on the desserts! The Vegan brownie has the chocolate fix for anyone craving it! And the salted Caramel and Vegan Vanilla Ice Cream are the most welcomed addition to it!
But the real surprise, was the second dessert in which Roadster harvested the power of the accidentally vegan Lotus to make a drool worthy Vegan version of its famous Lotus Mudpie! And we seriously couldn’t believe our vegan tastebuds!
All in all, in this Vegan Menu, it’s safe to say that Roadster, once again, did not join the Choir, but decided to sing its own Vegan Tune!
While other restaurants are barely dipping their toes in the vegan water, Roadster Diner dived in head first!
And to be honest, we’d give that “Game Changer” dive...
Read moreI will get straight to the point…I loved DON! The whole concept and execution is coherent and well thought of, respectively. An eatery, newly opened within a cluster of restaurants called Restos St. Nicolas, DON is fresh and inviting. It all starts with a colorful toy. You pick up your drink from an array of displayed bottles; I love that there are imported Japanese drinks too. We chose a Japanese strawberry-flavored soft drink and sake, and headed to the cashier. We ordered the Chicken Bao, the Chashu Shoyu Ramen, the Salmon Teriyaki Donburi with fried rice, and the Pad Thai noodles. After we paid, we got the bright pink Dragon Fruit as a form of marker to enable us to receive our platters correctly. While we have a seat, the open kitchen is bustling with movement and the sounds of sizzling ingredients. Indeed all our dishes arrived properly. The chicken bao were delicious; the steamed bun was as soft as could be and the flavors were great. As for the bowls, their constituents were hearty and soothing. My favorite was the salmon teriyaki. The sauce was really good, and the salmon was crispy on the outside and moist on the inside. For dessert, we had one of each of the available mochi flavors; I liked the one with caramel the most. In general, I enjoyed the experience from beginning to end, the food in the middle, and the way I felt as I was leaving. To sum it up, DON is the definition of comfort food. I couldn’t help but grab a couple of bags of strawberry-flavored Pocky on my way out. I have tasted them before and loved that I had found them in the basket of Japanese goodies they had—this for me was a detail that was like the icing...
Read moreThis branch did not meet our expectations. Roadster is my go-to place for comfort food, and I usually order the Super Sampler. However, at this branch, the mozzarella sticks and curly fries were very oily, and the mozzarella didn’t have a proper pull when split. The chicken strips were noticeably smaller than they used to be, especially given the price ($22). If you plan to increase prices, the portion sizes should remain consistent; instead, I received very tiny chicken strips.
My experience at the Saint Nicolas branch was not satisfying. We were seated indoors, but it was cold. When we asked a waiter to close the doors, they said they needed to keep them open for service. Unfortunately, this made the experience even less enjoyable.
I’m not sure if this issue is specific to this branch, but I won’t be visiting...
