As a fan of vegetables, I really wanted to like this place. Unfortunately, the food fell short of expectations. It wasn’t bad, but something was missing. There’s also a critical lack of a base (like rice or lentils) in most small dishes or as sides.
Note that in this restaurant, bread and water will cost you nearly 10e, which is shameful. 4e for a bottle of filtered water and 5.5e for three slices of bread which in many places come as complimentary.
The carrot cold dish was a bit bland. Carrots were too chunky, not roasted long enough, and there were too many of them. The pumpkin dish was a bit better but it wasn’t well balanced despite sounding appealing.
The ox tail warm dish could have been good if it wasn’t for the fact that 80% of the meat was thick fat. The aubergine dish was much better and the best of the meal. The broth was full of flavour and every element was well cooked.
Desserts were meh. Apples in the tart were too thick and nearly raw. The snickers could have been great but it was decent only. It’s possible a poor quality chocolate was used. The deliciousness wasn’t there.
Service was very good. They remove the plates too quickly (I was still chewing in one occasion), but that’s a common issue in Vilnius and I think that’s how they are trained. Overall, staff was well informed and friendly.
This restaurant has a problem of style over substance. We would...

The review is 1 star for following reasons: -1 star for the concept - it is supposed to be a sharing concept restaurant, however, the food is very difficult to share (some of the food crumbles when cut, so what's left is mush) -1 star for service - the service is super slow, the food was brought to us but not cutlery, waiting for 15-20 mins between courses to order something else, because nobody comes to the table, drinks were always empty, table not cleaned (butter from appetizers were left until the end of the dinner; stain from spilled sauce was never cleaned) -1 star for food - very small portions, 30% of the beef ordered was unchewable, the flavors are not balanced at all (e.g. tartar with potato pudding - you can only feel potatoes and the beef taste is lost) -1 star - severely severely overpriced, 30€ for beef where 30% is inedible. +1 star atmosphere - the interior design of the restaurant is beautiful, especially room with candles on the rim of lights; a courtyard is also beautiful.

Augustin is the place to visit in Vilnius. A magnificent gem found in the city centre. Their service is exceptional, and their dishes are a work of art. Creating a taste pallet to inspire to live! The whole concept is around socialising, being there with your loved ones, and sharing the love. I go there now also alone, because I share the love for their excellence.
