Ah, what a night to remember! We booked this place weeks in advance for a group of 65, thinking they’d be ready for us. Turns out, 65 was a bit too ambitious—maybe they thought we meant 6.5 people.
Let’s start with the “buffet.” You know, that magical word that usually means “eat until you regret your life choices”? Well, not here! Their version was more like a game show: “Pick one dish and hope it fills you up!” Spoiler: It didn’t. And when they ran out of food? Surprise! We were left staring at our empty plates, wondering if air counts as a main course. €15 per person? I wouldn’t pay €5 for that portion. €2000+ for the group? In your dreams, mate. That food was worth a fraction of that.
But the fun didn’t stop there! The lady settling the bill for our table's drinks was on her own little adventure—no clue what she was doing, but hey, points for enthusiasm. After we paid the bill, we were told our table hadn’t paid, so we got charged for the same drinks again. Double the drinks, double the fun, right? Pure robbery, but at least we got a great story out of it.
Maybe their à la carte service is stellar, but if handling large groups is beyond them, maybe don’t take the booking. Just a thought. And the cherry on top? Instead of owning up to their mess, they blamed us! Classic.
So, if you’re planning a big night out and love overpriced food, confusion, and a good old-fashioned blame game, this is your spot. Otherwise, maybe...
Read moreWhile I undoubtedly value our heritage and the traditional, authentic Lithuanian meals that Amatininkų Užeiga offers, I was very disappointed to learn that this restaurant refuses to stop using eggs from battery-caged hens. I am firmly convinced that a responsible and socially conscious business should implement very high animal welfare standards and choose their suppliers accordingly. Unfortunately, such eggs that the Craftsmen's Pub still uses come from factory farms where the birds are crammed in tiny cages. They don't even have an ability to spread their wings and often die prematurely from exhaustion. Likewise, deprivation of their natural needs causes the birds severe distress and they often start harming each other with their beaks as a sign of desperation. I profoundly believe that such treatment of animals is unacceptable and should not be supported; therefore, I cannot give this restaurant more than one star, as they choose to remain indifferent regarding this issue. I am convinced that a substantial majority of the customers of this pub care deeply about animals and naturally assume that a restaurant of such high price range only offers ethically produced and sourced ingredients; unfortunately, as that is not the case they must be informed on the practices that this restaurant supports. Craftsmen's Pub, please update your animal welfare policies and consider using...
Read moreDuring my visit to Vilnius two months ago, I had a delightful dining experience at Amatininkų Užeiga, located in the heart of the Old Town. Nestled along a lively, cobbled street, the restaurant offers a cozy and authentic Lithuanian atmosphere — perfect for a relaxed meal whether you're indoors or out. I initially sat outside, enjoying the animated street scene with its charming bustle of locals and tourists. It was a lovely setting, full of character. When a heavy rain rolled in, I moved inside, where the warm and tastefully decorated interior made me feel instantly comfortable. The rustic decor, with traditional touches, adds to the authentic feel of the place. The staff were polite, welcoming, and always smiling — a small but appreciated detail that made the experience even better. For my meal, I ordered Samogitian pancakes and a chicken soup, paired with a local Volfas Engelman beer. Everything was simple but very well-prepared and full of flavor. The portions were generous, and the food felt like true home-style Lithuanian cooking — hearty, comforting, and satisfying. Overall Impression: Amatininkų Užeiga is a great spot for anyone looking to enjoy traditional Lithuanian food in a cozy and inviting setting. The location, friendly service, and genuinely tasty food make it well worth a visit —...
