After reviewing and trying some of other Asian or Chinese cuisine restauraunts in Vilnius, we have come around to this one, with a pretty high rate on Google even for a small business with pretty cheap prices.
Even though the location was good, almost in the centre of an old town, with some decorations outside the restaurant, the interior was bland, cold not only in the temperature. To me it looked more like an old soviet bar, rather than a Chinese restaurant. After walking in, we have been greated by a waitress, and told to sit by a table with a reservation tab on it. We waited for almost 10 minutes, and nobody showed up. The we decided to go check on the waitress, and she just simply said she had forgotten us. Understandable... Since it was packed. Later on, we have ordered everything we usually order when going to a Chinese cuisine restaurant. The food portions were good, but the taste...
1st dish was spicy sour chicken soup with white chinese mushrooms. It should have been thick, with a bit of sugar, hot red chilli peppers, and a bit of rice vinegar. Of course chicken and mushrooms were not m issing, but the taste of the soup was appauling. The only things we could taste was vinegar, and lots of sugar. It tasted like I was having a sugar poppsicle rather than a soup...
2nd dish was crunchy sour chicken and crunchy spicy chicken. Yet again, the taste was awful, I even thought to myself, that the guy or a lady chef working in the kitchen had forgotten to taste their food... Or even worse, the chef does not care about the food their a serving... The sour chicken tasted like cheap bottom shelf ketchup, only thing that was good was fresh salad on the sides of the dishes. The spicy crunchy chicken was no where near spicy, even for a Lithuanian taste it was just a bit mild. The sauce on the chicken was just a regul soy sauce mixed with corn starch to make it thicker. And even though we have asked to make the rice with eggs, they have served us regular rice, with a bowl of egg rice on the side.
I do understand that the prices are pretty low, and this is not a restaurant of high class, but I just simply do not understand the rating on Google, and rating on Wolt, maybe it was a bad day for the chef?
All in all, staff was pretty standard, nothing to add regarding the service, given the fact that it was fully packed. But taking into the account, we have tasted the same dished in other places, this restaurant was no where near them in regards the taste of the dished, and the prices have been the same as in other places too...
Would not recomend this place, better try looking...
Read moreBy far the best Chinese in Vilnius for all round. As a chineseaholic, being a restauranteur and coming from London I know!
Price is unreal, 'lunch menu' offered all day aswell as a la carte. Huge portion, proper food, not drowned in sauce, sweetness or saltiness too much like other places. Great location, always nice staff. Fast
Wonder to explore both lunch menu and a la carte
I normally order from lunch menu a dish AND a la carte dish to enjoy too.
Anyway, price is insane AND quality. +ambience
Funny coz there is 3/4 chinese on this road Algirdo(central) and this is by farrrrrrrrr the best value. - should be called china town
Thanks Cheng Long, thanks for providing magic all round!
Ps- easily they could charge 2 times the price. Dont make decisions on how good somewhere is based on how cheap...
Read moreGenerous. It is not usual to change one's review for a better one. That is because of the fear of repeating the negative experience. But hey, I gave it a try and it was better this time. Very reasonable prices and veery reasonable amount of food! We followed the advice to try Sichuan beef. I lived in China. This was not quite Sichuan, but maybe that's why I liked it more. Roasted chilly. Too much sauce for my liking but I guess this is how other customers prefer it. Beef cucumber salad was short of garlic but good, generous of beef and peanuts. Food 7 out of 10, but I give extra star for the generosity. Service is excellent despite the waiting and pleasant experience. The chef...
