Most of the exhibition halls were closed for the season (and thank you to the Museum staff for their tolerance with my attempt to access closed rooms through my misunderstanding!) There was a 7 room exhibition showing selections of clips of films from the 60's, 80's, 2000's and current and each room was themed differently. I found it fascinating and a real insight to life under occupation. The container 'cinema' in the grounds has more film and lots of posters and is well worth climbing into. This is a pace for those who is interested in local animation and music history. So, basically, for adults as lots of Lithuanian adults are grown with this and it is becoming part of our history. There is no didecated parking here, so just leave car in Vokieciu street or somewhere around - old town - its going to be a bit challenging. Worth to check - till now last weekend in month part of all museum in Vilnius have free access (no ticket is needed). Teatro muziejus įkurtas 1926 m. Kauno Vytauto Didžiojo universitete, B. Sruogos ir V. Krėvės-Mickevičiaus iniciatyva. 1936 m. buvo perkeltas į Valstybės teatrą (vadovu paskirtas šio teatro aktorius Stasys Pilka). Karo metais muziejaus eksponatai buvo išblaškyti. Tik 1946 m. įkurta Lietuvos teatro draugija susirūpino muziejaus eksponatų likimu. Atkuriamieji darbai tęsėsi iki 1957-ųjų. Nuo tada veikė Lietuvos teatro draugijos (Aktorių namų) muziejaus skyrius (organizavo pedagogas Stasys Sabalis, vėliau vadovavimą perėmė filologė Gražina Aleksienė). 1964 m. šis skyrius, pavadintas Teatro ir muzikos muziejumi, buvo perduotas Lietuvos dailės muziejaus žinion. Jis veikė iki 1992 m. buvusiose Umiastovskių rūmų patalpose, Trakų g. 2, kur 1965 m. buvo surengta pirmoji paroda. 1992 m. Lietuvos dailės muziejaus padalinys tapo atskiru Lietuvos teatro, muzikos ir kino muziejumi (vadovas - muzikologas dr. doc. Jonas Bruveris, nuo 1997 m. - teatrologas dr. doc.
