A cozy Lithuanian Restaurant, which I saw off a TV show in the UK.
I grabbed myself an Uber to get here from the city centre. It cost €5 I will be very honest, I never ever eat out in restaurants in the UK, I feel incredibly uncomfortable doing so, but as I came to Vilnius for my Birthday holiday after seeing the TV show, I wanted to follow the steps of the people who were presenting it.
My first time in this country so was not sure of the local cuisine.
Upon arrival it kinda like Hansel and Gretal looking from the outside. Twinkle lights, beautiful wooden looking building with carvings
I was not expecting such a warm welcoming greeting. I was seated for table for one.
They provide both English and local language menus
I was heading straight for the
1 cup of local Fermented Rye Bread drink. (It was not something I can say I enjoyed but loved how it came in a traditional cup) it’s a very unique taste.
Cold Beetroot soup ABSOLUTELY AMAZING I LOVED IT! It was a great protein size and I was worried I would not be able to fit my main meal in!
For main I had the local dish
cepelinai (pronounced Zepplin)
Oooh my Gosh! They are big.
They have both VEG and MEAT option I went for the pork
They arrived
Looked amazing and tasted lovely too!
They are super filling and could only eat 1 and a half.
The staff were absolutely wonderfully kind.
Interacted with me
Chatted with me
I showed them the tv show which is available on YouTube channel 4 Travel man Joe Lycett Lithuania trying cold beer soup.
The staff loved seeing it and all chatted with me.
As it was my birthday they gave me two shots of a local shot.
One weak one very strong
The staff made my visit absolutely amazing
I’d give more stars if I could!
I highly recommend visiting
The cost is very good!
The restaurant is very clean and tidy. The bathrooms are clean also
Wheelchair access is also good here
Absolutely wonderful experience and would definitely come again if I was to...
Read moreI recently visited Senoji Trobele, and unfortunately, it was a huge disappointment. While the atmosphere was pleasant and well-designed, the food and pricing left a lot to be desired.
First, the food was completely underwhelming. The flavors were bland, the ingredients didn’t seem fresh, and the presentation was lackluster. For the price they charge, I expected something much better. Instead, it felt like I was paying a premium for food that was no better than a cheap diner meal.
Speaking of prices, they were ridiculously high for the quality of food served. I don’t mind paying extra for great food, but this was nowhere near worth it. The portions were small, and the overall experience felt like a rip-off.
The only saving grace was the atmosphere. The decor was nice, the lighting was cozy, and the ambiance made it a decent place to sit and chat. However, that alone isn’t enough to justify ever coming back.
If you’re looking for a place with good food and reasonable prices, this is NOT it. There are far better options out there that won’t leave you feeling like you...
