THAI HOUSE Vilnius — Restaurant in Vilnius

it’s nice, the staff are great, but the food simply does not live up to any Thai food i’ve ever had, even homemade (i’m Swedish-Lithuanian so homemade does not mean authentic). i’ve been to Thailand twice and Thai is one of my favourite cuisines, yet i would even probably rather eat instant curry over most of these dishes.

the sharing platter was okay but nothing was really good. the fish cakes were extremely chewy. the shrimp and chicken were smothered in oily batter, but the accompanying sauces were nice. the satay skewers were dry and chewy but again the sauce was good.

for mains, i thought the massaman curry was way too heavy. especially since it was 90% curry sauce, and it was just a thick sweet slop. sure, the spices were all there, but they did not mask the radical density of the sauce. there were also only two lamb chops, which is extremely little for the 16 euros the dish is priced at. and rice was not even included! also, considering the sweetness of the dish, it does not make sense to top it with crispy onion.

i also had the sweet and sour shrimp, and again, there was not a lot of protein in this. the vegetables were not fully cooked through, especially not the carrots that felt raw. the sauce was more like a soup and had a watery texture, so it didn’t really cling to the shrimp or vegetables. it felt like an extremely lazy dish.

i’m sorry to leave such a bad review because i really enjoyed having dinner here with family, and the servers were kind and patient, but i would not come back...

Lastly, I must mention the excellent value for money we received. The portion sizes were generous, ensuring that I left satisfied and content. The overall experience was worth every penny, and we will undoubtedly return and recommend your restaurant to friends and family.

Normally I do not review Vilnius dining experience, but this time No no no.. We got the last table for two walk in without reservation.. the waiter who said he is the owner looked very stressed and made us stress even more saying that we should order fast as they are full and obviously busy :) we asked for recomendaron and start the order. After few attempts we canceled what we were going for and changed the order. Had some shrimp rice cakes and for main course Pad Thai ( too sweet ) and pink pork dumpling soup, which tasted good, but dumpling filling was made out of bad meat :(. In the mean time waiter brought us the dish which we canceled, and when we said about it he showed some bad attitude and defended himself, after few minutes of argument I asked him to leave it so we will pay, if he thinks that we are playing here, however he got very angry and put some unpleasant pressure on whole experience. So Mr. Owner, the waiter ( gentleman ) you should greet and meet your guests with smile on the face and be grateful for the business.
