A traditional Malay breakfast -- some menu boards ,say, heritage -- in Ampang. I wouldn't have guessed but, yes,I come here twice a week for a spread of the best crispy Roti Canai & dhall, pulut kuning & chicken rendang (šdrumstick), tasty nasi Lemak , peanuts, ikan bilis (anchovies), cucumber, a whole boiled egg, ikan keli sambal and cucumber. Hamid and Mamat prefer those cute banana-leaf wrapped Nasi Lemak, Roti Telur,Roti Bawang and Nasi Goreng. I have seen others go for traditional "kuih-muih" like Kuih Koci, Kuih Bom Bijan, Kuih Kemboja and that one called Kuih Kasturi which I am sure has another name. I cannot get Fruit juice in the morning because those stalls are opened for lunch only. So, the usual Teh-o,Teh Tarik,Kopi ais and others. The pre-packed Mee Kari,Soto,Mee Rebus and all kinds of noodles and soup are not my favourite.Check before leaving because you could leave without noticing the soup was not put into your plastic bag. Nonetheless, I frequent two stalls every time. #14, because Yahya, the waiter is fast, zipping through drink orders in a flash.Of course, the other one, with the tall beverage freezer is a must for my Nasi Lemak and Pulut kuning. Orkid Heritage has dishes that look and taste so home-cooked -- like my late Mum's. Simply irresistible.I grew up eating rice for breakfast (a ploughman...read, person...eats for energy) so I am satiated until evening. The great thing is that Traditional food is easy on the tummy.I don't feel bulky. The rest of the day I eat light. Extra points for the homey feeling. The place is clean. I don't usually eat outdoors but this place is so delightful. #14 even keeps the traditional hand washing before eating practice if only, one blue "kendi" together with cutlery on a little table in a corner.Serviettes come out of a very innovative, but easily-missed self-made tissue holder on the wall. The stall-owners are bi-lingual.There's live music. The buskers belt out old Bee Gees "To love Somebody" or Malay hits.I hate it when it rains. The design of the Laman which means garden is airy and refreshing.MPAJ,please do something about the roof structure because the wind beats in the rain so the tables are wet when it rains.Bummer. Once I missed breakfast because raindrops falling on the tables are a nuisance. First-come first served parking.Hamid says this place offers good food that is...

Ā Ā Ā Read moreI went here on weekend with my friends. We ordered satay kambing, which is perfectly delicious at Satay Zaini & also Nasi Goreng Kampung with telur mata at Cafe Dear Ros (#7) However, Iām not satisfied with the food I received from that cafe, nasi goreng itself doesnāt look like Nasi Goreng Kampung & the telur mata looks like telur dadar instead. Then I asked the cafeās guy if they could change the telur but he said the tukang masak go for prayer, then I wait till I saw another cafeās guy (which I guess maybe heās the tukang masak), I went to request again if they can ganti the telur & he said no, he said because dah masak jadi tak boleh nak tukar, he added again āBenda dah masuk dalam kuali, pecah, macam tu la rupanyaā (something like this). Kalau macam ni yang I dapat, I donāt have to order telur mata la. I keep begged for the telur mata till the first guy yelled at me š , saying Iām ungrateful & rude (he said because I keep on forced them). A sentence I still remember āMakan je la, apa masalah kau, apa kau mati ke kalau tak makan ni?ā, now siapa yang rude(?) I just want to have my right, I want to eat what I paid, not this kind of egg (I showed to few of my friends, they said telur ni dah tak elok sebab tu goreng pecah macam tu). I put the pictures here, korang nilai la sendiri. And btw, this nasi goreng looks shabby, bland & tasted so MSG-ing, it didnāt taste good at all.
Before I wrote this review I happened to read few negative comments about this cafe too here. I never encountered staffs kedai makan yang macam ni, selalunya kalau kita minta tukar (due to their own kesilapan), the staff will acknowledge & tukarkan je, takde nak tengking customer.
Thank you...
