Long time since last visit. Able to survive MCO. Famous for roast duck. Many hanging at the cutting area. Saw worker bring one duck each time. Maybe they roast one duck at a time, this ensuring the quality. We did not order the duck this time but choose roast chicken, siew yoke and char siew . Also a small plate of fried spicy sotong which the lady boss recommend. Rice lack the chicken lard. Chicken and siew yoke so so. Char siew fare better. The sotong spicy but fresh. When we come back next time we will stick with roast duck. At the courter they display many type of crackers. Very tempting but we resist ourself and sis not buy. Plenty parking. Service prompt and lady boss takes the ordering and payment herself. Workers very hard working bringing out dishes and also fast clearing tables. Next door sells many types of raw seafood especially fishes. If love to cook and eat seafood can buy. Downside a lot of echo and people talking very loud. Can be very noisy. Came back on mother's day and it was a mistake. Long long queue. Make worst the last boss did not jot down who came first. After a long wait we got a table along the walkway. No fan. Ordering was fast except chicken sold out. I saw the old uncle chopping the duck, siew yoke and char siew work at his own pace. His 2 sons who used to help him no longer are around. So we ended up waiting for a long time before the food came. Siew yoke was crispy. Char siew so so. Duck skin was crisp and well done. Chili squid was fresh but very spicy. We ate with an incoming crowd of people standing behind us as our tables were near the entrance door. Paid 110. The lady boss came out and informed the waiting crowd that the duck sold out. Hope they improve on their crowd queuing and get help in...
Read moreThere are numerous roast duck and roasted pork restaurants all over KL. This has got to be one of the best. As a family owned and operated restaurant, it's been in the same location for almost 30 years or so.
Located in Pandan Indah area, the parking situation is always horrendous, but there's bound to be a spot that will turn up, so just be patient.
The signboard of the shop is partly hidden by a small tree, so take a look at the pic to familiarise yourself. Otherwise, you would just totally miss it. However, if it's during the weekend or peak dining hours, you can't miss it due to the crowd waiting outside.
Apart from the roasted meats, the restaurant also offers other dishes, including vegetables and the must-try squid. Be careful though, the squid dish is rather spicy as the sauce is covered with freshly cut chilli, so if you can't take it too spicy, let them know.
I especially like the little "office" where the proprietor cuts up the duck and other meats. It's a glass-walled booth and you can look in. Very hygienic, I thought. Or it might be because he doesn't want anyone to bother him with orders except for his staff.
The roasted duck is excellent - crispy skin and juicy aromatic meat is simply out of this world. The roasted pork (siu yoke) was OK, the char siu was another "don't miss" attraction.
Pro tip: Call the number listed to place an order for your duck. You just need to leave your phone number, and this will avoid disappointment should you be dining in. They will reserve your...
