This is a branch from the main restaurant at Chow Kit KL (overviewed by the uncle), this branch is taken care by the auntie. Overall the environment was clean, equipped with air conditioner and plenty of seats. I would say that the cleanliness would be better than Chow Kit main branch. Parking is not a problem, they have 2 slots available for the restaurant’s customer. Basically the menu is pretty simple, after u order, then only they will cook the noodles, so be prepared to wait for awhile. The coffee was not really nice. U should opt for herbal tea rather than coffee. The noodles were springy and chewy, pairing with the oozy egg yolk and their famous chili paste, it’s phenomenal! Most importantly there is crispy pork lard, and fresh fried ikan bilis, making the bowl even more flavourful! The portion was adequate for RM10, though it is slightly higher priced than usual hawker stall. ( it’s a restaurant afterall) The soup dumplings were okay, the skin was thin and no “gan shui “ taste. The meat filling was pretty decent, with addition of water chestnuts, improving the overall texture. The soup was very light, not salty. Overall a nice place to fix your panmee cravings. Their food speaks for their long standing history, my mum have been having their noodles since she was in her 20s, and now me, in my 20s and still...
Read moreToday marks my last day visiting this restaurant after being a loyal customer since their first outlet in Chow Kit.
The wrong order case happened to me this afternoon and I thought it's an isolated case. After reading the reviews on the similar case, I decided to express my disappointment here.
We ordered small porkball and fried dumplings, but served with medium size. When the aunty was taking order, she kept on asking us to take medium portion but I insisted small size only, and she noted it. However, when the porkball was served in a big bowl, I was shocked. I raised the issue to the aunty and she admitted it was medium size. She took the bowl and changed it to small size (15 balls).
However, we didnt realise the fried dumplings were medium size as well. When settled the bill, I asked the boss at counter to make sure our side dishes were small, and he confirmed it. Out of curiosity, in the car I searched the menu again from the web and found out I was charged medium size for the dumplings.
So, decided to bring the issue to the boss at the counter. However, the boss just kept on saying the aunty ordered medium size for us. Well, is it our problem for the wrong order?
Sorry Kin Kin, I will never go back again. Wish you...
Read moreI visit this establishment about once a week, mainly thanks to their proximity. They have two shops here (on both sides of the street), which means there's plenty of seats. However they only have one kitchen and they do attract a sizable crowd during peak hours, so the wait time may vary, ocassionally they do skip a customer or two and it's perfectly fine to alert them when you notice a later customer getting their orders ahead of you.
FLAVOURS & TASTES Being quite a regular here, one thing I can say is their servings is quite consistent. There are ocassions where it varies a bit from the usual taste but it's rare & negligible. Personally I like to mix two poached eggs on a single dry noodle serving, it makes the gravy creamy and aromatic which makes the noodles much more appetizing. Their side dishes are ordered separately and it's very much a standard fare.
PARKING Parking here is quite odd for the unfamiliar, the attendants will approach you to issue a parking ticket (not jaga kereta type but official type), hand them RM1 and tell them that you only wish to eat, they will charge you RM23 (23hrs rate) if you don't inform them, sundays...
