As an American living in KL, visiting Semporna. I wanted to eat at the Ikan Bakar restaurant across the street next to the McDonald’s but obviously they weren’t open cause it’s beach life I guess. Anyways the food at AAC is pretty good. But it was the Honeydew milkshake that was bomb dot com. I don’t know if they speak English but they have a pretty extensive menu from your fried rice to fried noodles and roti Canai. Basically anything you can get at your local mamak back in KL you can get here. It’s not too pricey and they have huge fresh avocados. If your white and you want a cheap place to eat where locals go so you don’t get killed on pricing by eating at the jetty. I’d recommend giving this place a try. It’s basic Malay food but if you want some simple shrimp fried rice this the place. Hope that was helpful. Also if you didn’t know there aren’t any street children begging you for money here like they usually would by the jetty. Just remember the kids are human too and have feelings you don’t have to give them mean looks. My tip would be just to go into a store and give them candy if you don’t wanna give them cash money.
