I used to enjoy coming to this cafe for a productive work environment. Lately, however, I've noticed a persistent issue that has been affecting my experience. The cafe seems to be attracting individuals promoting investment opportunities, particularly in NFTs. While I respect everyone's right to pursue their interests, the loud and persistent discussions have created a less-than-ideal atmosphere for those of us trying to focus on our work or have a small talk with friends.
The noise level from these conversations has been disruptive, and it's clear I'm not the only one affected—other customers have been visibly frustrated as well. On multiple occasions, I've found my table's chair taken without any prior communication.
However, it's important to note that the cafe's coffee and cakes are truly exceptional as well as the staffs' services. The quality of their offerings is something to be commended. Despite the distractions caused by 'those people,' the cafe's culinary delights are worth savoring. I hope the management can address this issue to ensure a more conducive environment for all patrons. I appreciate the cafe's ambiance and would love to see improvements in maintaining a peaceful and productive...
Read moreI used to love the vibe at 1985 Coffee, the environment, music, and service were all great. However, I’ve noticed some changes recently, particularly with the staff. While their service is still okay, it doesn't quite match the high standard set by the previous team. The new staff tend to chat and even laugh loudly behind the counter, which can be distracting.
The music selection has also changed, and unfortunately, it’s not as appealing as before. They often play rap or Malay songs, which isn’t an issue in itself, but the staff singing along loudly is a bit unprofessional and disrupts the atmosphere.
I’ve tried going to "The Living Room," but it’s not ideal for working with a laptop. The seating there is either on sofas, which are comfortable but not suitable for work, or at long tables, which can feel awkward when sitting alone.
Despite these issues, I still prefer 1985 Coffee because they offer more suitable tables for working. Additionally, the food has actually improved, there’s a wider selection now, and everything tastes more delicious than before. I just hope the staff can improve their work ethic to match the excellent service I experienced in the past, which made the place truly comfortable...
Read moreThis morning around 9.30AM I went to the extended space called “The Living Room.” I wanted to find a place where I can peacefully grade my students’ papers. However, I noticed that the music being played was loud and filled with vulgar words (or in simpler terms, swear words that start with F).
I asked the waiter twice if he could kindly change the playlist. He explained that the playlist was from Spotify. He was respectful and he addressed my needs by turning off the music for a while and then changing the playlist to softer songs..
I appreciate his help, but I just can’t help feeling disappointed 😕 I know it’s impossible to monitor all the songs from Spotify, BUT if the theme of the café is 1985, I suggest to use the playlist for oldie songs from the 90’s or even 80’s…. Jazz would be amazing.
The food was good, the table and seats were cozy. I just felt deeply disturbed by the initial choice of music and the volume. Again, I was there to find some...
