Highly recommended by the blogger, it's crowded and limited parking available so you got to be smart to spot the roadside for parking. First time come to try the hokkien mee bur unfortunately finish around 10am so I've tried the curry noodle, chee cheong fun & apom. Curry noodle taste superb and the broth is taste so good with the sambal sotong (like nasi lemak sambal squid - taste yummy). Chee cheong fun (CCF) also taste good but personally I prefer genting cafe CCF coz they put peanut sauce which I like it so much, my mom prefer Bobo CCF. So it's really depends in your personal taste. Apom need to queue and take some time for the queue, taste not bad but nothing to shout bout it. Second time visit, hokkien mee still available but need to wait for almost 1 hour and abit sad when they serve the noodle, the broth is not that hot and the noodle is absorbing the soup and become dry, taste not wow coz the next stall which is Granny's Hokkien Mee is way better and no queue is needed. Reorder the curry noodle, still very tasty. Will definitely come back again for the curry noodle. The CKT suppose taste good but because I ordered Kiew teow mee, they put lots of Black sauce which make the noodle sweet, saw the next table ordered only kiew teow is much nicer than us and the auntie said very yummy. Drinks normal only, nothing to shout. The seat is limited and you need to have friends to stand by to...
Read moreCame here around 10:30am and still crowded until we left about 1 hour later. It’s a kopitiam at the ground of flat residency, and the dining area is the “common area” of the flat residency. As it is surrounded all direction by building, it’s actually not well ventilated and you feel warm due to lack of wind/breeze. Food wise: Hokkien mee definitely overrated, seems everyone come here for it but as a northern malaysia I would say this Hokkien mee taste just ordinary, you can get many other version better than this just in Penang. Personally for me I don’t even rate it as authentic as it has no “standard specification” of Hokkien mee: they don’t give you the boiled pork, there is no “semi-dried stir fried shrimp” etc. Both Hokkien mee and char keuy teow told need to wait 30 minutes when we ordered, but Hokkien mee served after around 40 minutes, definitely not worth the wait. Char keuy teow taste quite good, but still not the top ranking in Penang la. I would be willing to wait for ckt than waiting for Hokkien mee. For me the real nice and good tasting food here is the curry mee. Keuy teow soup, apom, popiah also nice. Basically for me all food I ordered today are ok except for Hokkien mee big disappointment. Pricing: it looks cheap with everything around RM6-7 but actually all food portion very small. Normal adult will need to eat 2 portion...
Read moreBobo Coffee Shop is located in Taman Lip Sin and there are 2 coffee shops in this vicinity, the other being Super Tanker coffee shop which is another story for another day. For those who are familiar with this coffee shop, it is very popular in the morning with market goers who patronised the Lip Sin market and then go to have their morning hawker fare So, it is crowded with people especially on Saturday and Sunday mornings. But fret not as there is a large compound next to SMJK Por Tay which can easily accommodate over 100 cars. The perennial favourite in this outlet is the Hokkien Mee which can easily make it into the top 5. My gem is the Curry Mee which is very 'santanish' giving it a natural sweetness to the soup without being too overpowering . The chillie gives a spiciness which more than compliments the coconut milk In the soup. The fragrance is enhanced with the ' Bunga Kentang' which is cooked in the soup to complete a perfect bowl of this delicacy. Go for extra dried Cuttle Fish which has been cooked to perfection at Rm 6.50 for a generous side order Do not take my word for it. Invite someone to go with you. Bon Appetit. Comments...
