Amaya Food Gallery at Amari SPICE Penang — Restaurant in George Town

The food was more for show & presentation than taste, need to improve a lot. The foods we ordered : Green curry - 5/10 . Bland taste, paste was not too strong and didn't have that authentic thai uummpph Fish & chips - 8/10 . Big portion, batter was light and crispy and the tartar sauce was great Chicken chop (Hainanese sauce) - 5/10 . Chicken was just OK. The batter was nice but the chicken wasn't that juicy. The most upsetting part was the Hainanese sauce tasted more like a black pepper + bbq sauce. Sobs ( i ordered this) Burger - can't say much coz didn't have a bite Pad thai - 8/10 . Delicious and very flavourful. Mushroom soup - 6/10 . Was impressed that the cream texture looks exquisite, but the strong smell of wild mushrooms caught me by surprise. Didn't like the smell and taste. Caesar salad - 5/10 . As mentioned, presentation.. the salad was dry and judging by the look of it, definitely not suitable with the price. Spaghetti something - 2/10 . Completely off.. no taste. Had to bring back home and pomen with more cheese, olive oil, herbs, chilli flakes add touch of salt to make it edible.

Food : 4 stars. Wide variety of food including pasembor, noodles, kambing golek, shawarma, soups, rojak and desserts. Overall, tastes good. Nothing special.

Atmosphere : Overall atmosphere is nice. Good ambience. Appropriate lighting. Live band playing music. Butttttt. Live band is too loud for my taste.

Since its Ramadhan Buffet. The live band is not singing anything related to raya or ramadhan. Keeps singing birthday songs to the audience.

I got confuse on whether I attended a Ramadhan themed buffet or a birthday party.

I reckon this sort of place is made for gathering purposes, for families to reconnect and to catch up with each other. But it was not made possible as I had to shout to my family memebers in order for them to hear me. 😶

Maybe the management can improve on this bit.

As for the price, 138 for adults, 98 for seniors is quite affordable.

I would come back for the food but certainly not for...

First off, the dining area is nice, but the food stations are too scattered about. Selection of food for the price of RM 188 is ridiculous. Pastas are bland, beef stew too tough, fish curry dry. There were no roast beef, lamb, duck or chicken. They offer lamb & chicken chop, made to order; i ordered the chicken chop, waited 10mins to get, dry over cooked thin breast meat !!! What ?!?!? Fortunately the seafood is fresh but limited choices. Fresh live crabs but small, prawns are fresh and big. Grill fish and squid is nice.No slipper lobster 😓. Dessert are minimum, compared to other hotel buffet offerings. There are no drinks for kids, no free flow juice station. Only water 🙄 my kids were not happy. Overall to my family, the buffet sub-par. Not great and definitely not worth it. Don't think we will come back again anytime soon....
