A Disappointing Experience with Rude Service

We used to enjoy coming to this restaurant when it was smaller and had a warm, friendly atmosphere. It was a go-to spot for us, and we visited several times. However, our recent visit after the place expanded was nothing short of disappointing.

The once pleasant service has taken a dramatic turn for the worse. The staff, who used to be welcoming, were now rude and aggressive, showing little regard for customer satisfaction. One staff member, in particular, was especially unpleasant. She loudly proclaimed that she had been working there the longest, which seemed like an unnecessary and confrontational response to a simple question about the changes in the staff.

What really soured the experience was when she demanded that we pay for our meal while we were still eating. We requested to pay after we finished, as we were in the middle of our meal and wanted to enjoy it without handling money. Instead of understanding, she became even more demanding, shouting at us in a way that was both unnecessary and uncomfortable.

To add to the confusion, the waiter who took our order seemed unsure of it, rechecking and confirming it multiple times. There was no mention of any requirement to pay first, which only added to our frustration when we were abruptly asked to settle the bill after just starting our meal.

When we tried to address the issue, the manager (or whoever was in charge) showed no interest in understanding our side of the story. He treated us as if we were trying to skip out on the bill, which was both insulting and unprofessional. Apparently, someone had run out on their bill the previous day, but that was not our fault, and we should not have been treated as if it was.

Overall, what was once a charming, customer-friendly restaurant has turned into a place where customers are treated poorly and with suspicion. The expansion might have made the space bigger, but it has certainly not improved the experience. We left feeling disappointed and disrespected, and we won't be returning. There are plenty of other places in this area that value their customers and offer a far more pleasant...

If you’re looking for the perfect beachside dining experience in Batu Feringhi, Frandy Beach Bar & Restaurant is the ultimate spot! This hidden gem combines stunning views, delicious food, and a laid-back tropical vibe that makes it a must-visit for anyone exploring Penang.

The location is unbeatable—right on the beach with panoramic views of the ocean and the sound of waves as your soundtrack. Whether you’re visiting during the day for a relaxed lunch or in the evening for a magical sunset dinner, the ambiance is absolutely captivating. The cozy outdoor seating, fairy lights, and chill music create the perfect atmosphere for unwinding.

The food at Frandy Beach Bar & Restaurant is incredible, offering a mix of local and Western dishes to suit every palate. The seafood is especially fresh and flavorful—I highly recommend the grilled prawns and the seafood platter, which are perfectly seasoned and cooked to perfection. Their char kway teow also deserves a special mention—it’s packed with wok hei and authentic flavors that rival some of Penang’s best street food.

No visit would be complete without trying their refreshing cocktails! The pina colada and mojito were my personal favorites, served with a tropical twist that matches the beachside vibe. They also offer a good range of mocktails and juices for non-drinkers.

The staff here are friendly, attentive, and always ready to make your experience extra special. They’re happy to recommend dishes, accommodate dietary preferences, and even take the time to chat with you, adding to the warm and welcoming atmosphere.

Frandy Beach Bar & Restaurant is not just a place to eat—it’s an experience. Whether you’re here for the food, the drinks, or just to soak in the breathtaking beach views, this spot will leave you with unforgettable memories. I can’t wait to come back on my next trip to...

Frandy Bar and Restaurant offers a picturesque dining experience, especially with its prime location next to Bay View Hotel and its stunning beachfront views. The arrangement of tables right on the sand provides an excellent vantage point for watching the sunset while enjoying your meal. However, due to its popularity, it's advisable to arrive early to secure a prime spot. Otherwise, you might find yourself seated in less desirable areas.

My visits to Frandy have been a mixed experience. On my first visit in February 2024 with my boyfriend, we were seated at a table that was more suited for drinks than a proper meal. Despite the view, the seating arrangement was not ideal for dining.

More recently, I encountered issues with the service. The Myanmar supervisor lady wearing glasses seemed to treat us unfairly, insisting on upfront payment before we had finished our meal or even before our friend arrived. This was in stark contrast to how other tables were treated, which left me feeling singled out and unfairly judged.

While the food quality is decent, with a notable selection of local dishes, my Tom Yum Seafood is overly sour. My friend really like the BBQ Fish. Portions are generally meant for groups, so if you're dining as a couple, you might want to consider Western options to avoid excessive leftovers. The waiter very fast wanted to clean our table eventhough the bowls are still have plenty of food. In my disappointment mood I just let him to clear it.

In summary, while Frandy Bar and Restaurant excels in providing a beautiful sunset view, the service and seating arrangements could use improvement. Please remind the staff to not simply judged the customer based on their look. Don't practice double standards in your service. The food is good but be prepared for possible...

I recently visited Freddy's Bar, which isn't my first time since I'm a Penangite. To my surprise, I was asked to pay the bill before finishing my order, something I had never experienced before. The staff kept insisting that I settle the bill, which I found rude, as I hadn’t completed my orders. I politely told them that I’d be happy to pay once I was done with all my drinks and orders. Things escalated when my friends and I decided to move to a table inside the café. The staff approached me again, demanding that we pay the bill simply because we had changed tables. I found this unreasonable, as table changes should be a matter of flexibility for the café, not the customer’s concern. I would have been fine with paying earlier if they had explained the situation properly. However, what really disappointed me was the behavior of the manager (a Chinese man), who approached me and accused me of causing a problem by not paying when we switched tables. His tone and approach were extremely rude, and rather than apologizing for the confusion, he continued arguing with me. I reiterated that it was not my issue, as I hadn’t completed my order, but he insisted I had to pay the bill before placing another order. The entire situation was inconvenient and unprofessional. To top it off, when I eventually paid, the manager showed no remorse and didn’t even apologize for his behavior. I felt utterly disappointed, especially given that I was charged a service fee for such poor treatment.
