This place was recommended by my friend that is staying nearby so I thought I should give it a try.
I was there pretty early around 6pm+, still ample of table (outdoor and indoor). Ordered 2 pax portions for soup and 1 pax for dry bak kut teh, added the kerabu fried tofu.
Love the soup that the herbal taste is not overpowering while dry one nothing special. The kerabu tofu was really tasty as the tofu was crispy from the outside and soft in the inside. 1 thing I like the most was they nvr stingy on adding the soup for you without you requesting. They will add for you when your soup is half. 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
Unlike the restaurant I went last time(Man Shan满善 only allow to add once and repeatedly mentioned only can add once, come on la bkt shop but only to add a small bowl of soup once ..jokesss... btw the price was double of this shop no doubt the taste was good but will not consider to go again...🙄🙄
Overall, a good place for bak kut teh, next time shall try the tomyum noodles too. The carpark is really difficult to find unless very lucky or before...
Read moreI had multiple good experiences with this BKT place. The first time I tapau from there; I just gave it a try but was hooked by the tender meat and thick and flavorful soup.
But the most recent experience - ordered through Food Panda - was a disappointment. They messed up my order and when I called them to provide a feedback, a simple apology was hard to come by.
Their excuse - we don’t understand English; that is why we gave 2 options in Food Panda app menu.
Good food but poor customer service (this time). Be honest - own up to mistake instead of giving excuses. Took down to 4 stars due to bad experience this time. Still recommended if you eat...
Read moreI do not recommend this Bak Kut Teh (BKT) stall unless you do not mind to be charged exorbitantly 💸💸💸
We had the soup BKT and the dry BKT at the staff's persistence and persuasion that we could try both. She said it would make no differences as it was only 1 serving for each version VERSUS 2 servings should we stick to try out 1 version. So that came with 1 white rice 🍚 and 1 yam rice 🍚.
We were served with 1 small portion of 油炸鬼, and 1 small plate of 油菜。
The soup BKT had a few pork cubes and taukua as well a tiny bunch of needle mushrooms and 2-3 meatballs. WHILE, the dry BKT had some pork cubes (too), chillis, veggies, and meatballs.
We ordered 1 iced milo and 1 leng teh peng.
GUESS WHAT🫠?
We were left gobsmacked 🫨😱😫 when we learned that it cost us a total of RM64 for all these tiny portions.
We could have a better meal elsewhere like Kim Gary for that amount.
Taste wise, I would say there are definitely other BKT stalls in Penang that serve authentic and more delicious...
